Ahasser (ⴰⵃⵚⴰⵕ)
The term Ahasser (literally meaning « blockade, » « protector, » or « entourage guard ») refers to the special group of close friends, brothers, or trusted young men selected from the groom’s tribe to serve as his entourage throughout the multi-day wedding.

Hassrat / Ihassaren (ⵜⵉⵃⵚⴰⵕⵉⵏ)**
While Ahasser usually refers to the groom’s male entourage, Hassrat (or Tihassarin / Ihassaren) refers to the counterpart group or the collective ceremonial role played by the bride’s and groom’s close companions.

Playful Negotiations & Stoppages: During the bridal procession, a key ritual known as Ahasser takes place: the young men of the bride’s village physically « block » (yhsar) the path of the groom’s entourage. The groom’s side must negotiate, offer symbolic gifts (such as sugar cones, almonds, or money), or perform poetic songs (Izlan) to gain permission to take the bride to her new home.

Beyond the festivities, Ahasser and Hassrat embody communal solidarity (Tiwizi). They ensure that marriage is not just a union between two individuals, but a shared cultural commitment supported by the entire peer group and village.

🇺🇸 The bride welcomed by women from the groom’s family through song accompanied by rhythms drummed on the allun (frame drum).
Women surround the bride to protect her from thiqaf; her mother often leads the mule/camel , and her sisters stand on
either side (thereby also revealing the family identity of the bride, whose face
is covered).

Although the bride needs to travel only a short distance to the tent, her trip
may take more than three hours.This is because men from the groom’s village,
in one of the fewoccasions during the wedding in which men playa public role,
engage in a game that tries to impede the bride and the isnain from advancing
toward the tent.

The men teasingly and repeatedly block the path of the isnain, allowing them to pass only after performing some embarrassing deed, such as
singing a song in the men’s honor, kissing their hands, or performing a dance
.The men also jokingly try to steal items from the bride’s mount,
such as the red scarf that covers its rump. In the past, guns were fired each
time the isnain were stopped, but people have used cap guns in the last twenty
years.

This playful threat of physical violence by villagers against would-be
intruders reflects the historical importance of close local ties in constructions of Ait Khabbash group identities.
Women from the groom’s village also participate in this ceremonial game, taking the side of the isnain by taunting male villagers with sarcastic playful comments in an attempt to help the isnain and the bride proceed.

🇲🇦 من اجمل اللظات التي تميز العرس الامازيغي والتي تعطي قيمة للمرأة (العروس) فعلى وزراء العريس ( إسناين )وعائلتة ان تثبت مدى قدرتها على حماية العروسة وتحصينها من الاعداء.
في القديم كان البرود هو المستعمل ولخطورته تم استبداله بالفرشي وحاليا الحرقيات وانواع اخرى من الالعاب النارية
إنها اجواء تقاليد أعراس الأمازيغ حاسرات
