“Scary” - Discovering more and more electrical problems on Quixote as we dig into her. Over 38 years of different owners and sub-par “charter fixes” has led to the need to replace the entire wiring system on Quixote. Your electrical system must be absolutely bullet proof on a sailboat - especially on a large exploration yacht like Quixote. I’m so happy I made the decision now - rather than later - to refit Quixote! #sailboat #sailboatlove #motorsailer #electrical #captainlife #captain #diy #refit #boat #boatlife #crewlife #boatrefit #ftpierce #ftmarine #liveaboard taken in Ft. “Water Damage” - Uncover massive water damage near every AC air handler and chain plate mast stay deck entry points. Plain and simple, with proper maintenance this is preventable. When I bought Quixote, I knew I had my work cut out for me. This refit had to be done so that Q will be ready for her future world voyages. #sailing #sailboat #motorsailer #diy #boat #boatlife #captainn#boatrefit #boats #choeylee #yacht #yachtlife #woodworking taken in Ft. “VIP Stateroom Demolition” - Converting the VIP Stateroom into a larger utility room/machine shop. This will bring Quixote from a 5 staterooms/5 baths to 4 staterooms/4 baths. Ultimately I’m going to remove the most forward bath to bring Quixote to only 3 baths. The space gained will allow me to not only have a respectable work shop so I can repair anything during voyages, but it will also increase the size of my master bath and allow for a walk-in closet. This conversion is the first of many changes to build the ultimate exploration yacht. #sail #sailboat #motorsailer #boat #boatlife #crewlife #liveaboard #choeylee #yacht #refit #boatrefit #work #diy #ftpierce #ftmarine #captain #captainlife #exploration taken in Ft. “Small Wins” - Most of the accessories are out of the engine room now. Looking forward to removing the generators to make room for the engine rebuild. #sailboat #sailboatlife #liveaboard #voyages #diy #diyboatrepairs #motorsailer #choeyleeyachts #yacht #ftpierce #captain #boatrepairs #engineroom #cummins #onan taken in Ft. “Rub Rail Reinstall” - These babies have been in storage for over a year after my dad grinded and shined them over a year ago. Until I complete a full sanding and varnish of the teak under the rails, I’ve decided to go ahead and put them back on. #diy #boat #boatlife #yacht #yachtlife #liveaboard #sailor #sailboat #sailinglife #redit #stainless #motorsailer #choeylee #choeyleeyachts #ftpierce #worldsailer #sailvoyages taken in Fort Pierce, Florida by @sailing.quixote
