2 months of 529 MIXTAPE. Appreciate everyone who has taken the time to listen and digest it!!

Thought I would do a breakdown on the songs and all the BTS and thought process behind each of the songs

Thank you for the luv 🖤

1. JOBS?!

For ‘jobs?!’, I wanted something that set the tone for the tape. To me, 529 (five to nine) is a representation of what your goals and aspirations are outside of your typical 9 to 5, especially if that’s not what you want to do long term.

Being from Canberra, it’s very easy to be told what avenue you should be taking, as opposed to figuring out what you’re actually interested in and passionate about.

His reaction to all those jobs being mentioned, with the immediate decline to them being offered, in my mind is something I felt I could relate to. Naming things I’m not interested in because that’s not the dream I want to chase. Ultimately, my 9 to 5 is temporary, and my 529 is where I’m gonna get to.

2. MR KWE

This song was one of those ones where I knew exactly what I wanted to do from when I started this tape, but it ended up being the last song I recorded. From the hook to the beat switch, I knew what it would sound like. It was just about executing it and filling in the gaps.

That first bit was recorded in 2023 with a completely different song, and I knew I was gonna save it for something, and I’m glad I did.

My main goal was to make sure the intro was strong and aggressive. This was the first thing y’all were gonna hear, so how do I set the tone off the rip? How do I introduce myself in the most ridiculous way possible?

The second part, when the beat comes in, was the last song I made on the tape, but I always had that “MR K W E” hook stuck in my head. I love how it turned out, and I’m surprised it’s one of the favourites.

3. HIDE & SEEK

Hide and Seek was one of those ones that was supposed to come out last year at some point but didn’t make it.

This one was simple. Shethran made the beat, and I made the song to it.

It feels like I’m rapping to myself on this. Am I gonna hide and stick to what I’m used to and be sheltered, or am I gonna seek and go after all the things I want in life?

I love the setup between t by @saintkwe
