It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my mother, Sandra Cameron. The woman whose name, legacy, and spirit built the foundation so many of you know today. This is her son writing.

My mother, Sandra Cameron, lived a life defined by resilience, determination, and service. Born and raised in Jamaica, she came to West Palm Beach in the late 1980s with nothing but faith, ambition, and a vision for a better life for her family. She went on to build multiple successful businesses, always using her gifts to uplift others.

One of her proudest accomplishments was founding a nonprofit dedicated to helping the homeless and providing clothing to those in need, long before it became the mission of the Sandra M. Cameron Foundation. She believed deeply in dignity, compassion, and community support, and her work changed countless lives.

Her commitment to service earned her recognition at the 128th Annual Giraffe Awards, honoring women who “stick their necks out” for others. Even when she was diagnosed with ALS in late 2023, she faced every challenge with the same grace, courage, and strength that shaped her entire life.

The Sandra M. Cameron Foundation exists because of her heart. It was built to continue her mission:
• Clothing our community and ensuring that individuals and families in need are seen, supported, and cared for.
• Empowering Black women entrepreneurs through grants and programs that open doors, create opportunities, and build generational stability.

Everything we do is a reflection of her; her generosity, her leadership, and her unwavering belief in helping others rise.

My family and I thank you for your prayers, love, and continued support as we honor her legacy. We will continue her work with the same dedication she lived by every day.

Rest in power, Mommy. Your light will never stop shining through the lives you’ve touched. by @saintwvz

Eighteen months ago, my mom was diagnosed with ALS. Through tears, the doctors shared the news and told us, “The next year will be one of the hardest of your life.” They weren’t wrong. With her mobility now limited below her neck, life has changed drastically for her. Despite being given less than a year to live, she’s still with us—15 months and counting.

2024 was undoubtedly a challenging year, but my mom made it clear that she wanted her legacy to be one of giving. As a dedicated community advocate, she organized clothing drives every year, and I felt it was my responsibility to carry that on. Over the last four months, I’ve had the honor of organizing a clothing and toy drive in her name, and I’m thrilled to say it was a huge success.

To everyone who contributed—whether through donations, prayers, time, or effort—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your generosity helped us spread love and joy to those in need, just as my mom would have done if she could.
