And just like that, Monday was not so mundane. The man of the house was in the mood for an impromptu brunch and, thankfully, it wasn't just yours truly providing the point of view. For the most part, at least.

Somewhere between a decadent brunch and a face full of vitamin sea, it occurred to me: like most things in the Maximum City, even the coastline is too busy to simply be beautiful.

Not in the vain, lazy way the promenades of slower coastal towns are. Here, there is reclamation. Bridges. Dredging. Something always being built, extended, connected.

And because we apparently can't look at the sea without projecting our inner workings onto it, I found myself wondering:
At what point does progress begin to defeat the very thing it was meant to improve? by @sairekha

Time for the ceremonial birthday post. Another year around the Sun. Va va voom.

This dialogue from Madagascar 2 feels apt for today.

Alex: "Hey, happy slappers! Is there some reason to celebrate? Look at the plane!"
Skipper: "We'll fix it."
Alex: "Fix it? How are you gonna fix this?"
Skipper: "Grit, spit..." (Private spits) "...and a whole lot of duct tape."
(Rico pulls out a roll of tape)
Skipper: "We should be up and running in, say, six to nine months."

I guess your plane is already testing the tarmac. Happy Birthday my love. Shine on, you crazy diamond ❤️ by @sairekha

Through the looking glass.

Time flies when you're having fun. From looking at life through rose-tinted lenses to just looking at it through progressive ones, it has been a beautiful journey.

Thank you for being home to me. Thank you for being the person I want to tell everything to, snort-laugh with, complain endlessly to, celebrate with, and always come back to at the end of every day.

The years have given us grey hair, stronger prescriptions, and stronger opinions, but they've also given us something far more precious: a life that feels uniquely, unquestionably ours.

I wouldn't trade a moment of it.
I love you. Happy Anniversary @anoop.h.agrawal . ❤️ by @sairekha

#throwback to last week.

Kabini is a forest swaddled by a ample backwaters and stunning vistas. A safari there feels like traveling in a post card!

Jungles are gorgeous ecosystems. Foliage, critters, crawlers.. predators and prey live in perfect harmony. Every time I breathe the crisp air, or find my adrenaline rush when I hear a monkey or a deer call, I feel connected to the jungle story. Creation, chaos and destruction are the elements of the circle of life. In the Jungles, all living creatures appear to share a circle of existence.

I wonder, with a slight twinge of sadness, how evolution may have ringfenced most of us from the game of survival in these ecosystems. And yet now, within our own, we're both predator and prey. #JungleMusings

Chasing sunsets in God's own Country has been a truly rewarding experience. Kumarakom is an unusual place with land parcels swaddled by ample lake. The best part - every few metres is the most stunning panorama of the picturesque Wembanad lake and the mysterious stories it beholds #traveldiarires #godsowncountry by @sairekha

An open letter to my dear #T1D community.

Today is November 14th. Our Day. And it comes exactly one month and eleven days to Christmas. Every year on this day I have wished for different things for us – to be bonded as a community, #insulinforall, healthcare access for all, medical insurance coverage, rights against discrimination, end of social stigma, inclusion, affordable health care.. phew! My list is only growing, but so is my hope.

After all, 2023 is a year of many wins for our community. The NCPCR circular was the much-needed push that schools had to ensure no child would be left behind. Medical camps and insulin distribution schemes have been abuzz in different parts of the country. Advocacy has been on an all time high. Doctors and persons with lived experiences have come together as a unified voice to create policy.

Type 1 Diabetes is our lifelong companion. Like all lifelong companion, with this one too we have good and bad and very mediocre days. Growing older with it means that as we find ways to live with ourselves, we need to find a way to live with it.

This year, on World Diabetes Day, my ask for us is therefore a tad more personal. I hope for each of us to find our reason to look after ourselves every single day. To make good and healthy choices for ourselves. To use our voice to make sure everybody in our community is heard. And to never forget, that together we are stronger.

Yours Sincerely, on my 28th World Diabetes Day,

Happy birthday handsome! ❤️ Gosh, we've done over a decade of your birthdays and I'm grateful for every single minute you clock on this earth. Life with you has been sooo many wonderful things. Like one long road trip with DevD playing on loop. A beach trance party with progressive beats vibing to the waves. One long sunset by the mountains. A sunrise with hermit crabs on our feet and dolphins chasing a trainer boat across the ocean. The first cup of adrak wali chai in the morning. My favourite kind ❤️❤️

You drive me crazy when you're hungry but there is no one I'd rather be stuck with in any place than you! But you know the best part - every single life you've touched, every single person you've met, you've given them their ability to dream.

God bless you baby! I hope you always keep that smile that sails a thousand ships. by @sairekha

I've always been open about the trials and tribulations of living with a lifelong condition. Thank you @viatrisinc and #Mo for creating such a personal and genuine conversation about the realtime toll on mental health.
