Pleased to share the acquisition of Saks Afridi’s, “Rug Lenticular No. 1,” (2024) to the permanent collection of Bank of America’s HQ Office.

Qashqai, Bakhtiari, Shahsavan, and Afshar rug patterns come together in a vibrant lenticular display—medallions shifting in rhythm, weaving a living tapestry inspired by Persian heritage.

Saks Afridi ( @saks__ ) works in a genre he calls “Sci-Fi Sufism,” blending mysticism and futurism through sculpture, painting, and installation to explore identity, belonging, and cultural memory. Drawing from Sufi poetry, Islamic mythology, and South Asian folklore, his work often incorporates analog mechanics inspired by his love of vintage cars.

A fusion of heart and machine, 𝘋𝘪𝘭 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘢 2 blurs the emotional and mechanical, the inherited and the engineered. Built from everyday objects—trinkets, carpet fragments, knick-knacks—the sculpture echoes automotive machinery while pulsing with human feeling.

𝘋𝘪𝘭, Urdu for heart, grounds the work in language and culture, while its industrial form imagines a future where memory is coded and emotion is wired.

Afridi currently has two works, including “Dil Machina 2” featured in 𝑴𝒂𝒅 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕, 𝑩𝒆 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆, curated by Sadaf Padder ( @pitterpadder ). The exhibition is on view through August 8, 2025.

What if an otherworldly event changed the course of human history, and every trace of it vanished from our collective memory?

At the turn of the millennium, mysterious vessels appeared in cities across the world. They emerged without warning, carrying the promise of something unimaginable: a gateway through which collective prayers could be answered.

For a brief moment, the impossible became real. The boundaries between technology, faith, and human existence shifted.

And then, somehow, the memory of it all began to fade.

What remains are fragments. Recovered artifacts, photographs, recordings, and traces of an event that once connected humanity in ways we can no longer fully explain.

But what if those memories were never truly lost?

Saks Afridi: SpaceMosque invites you to piece together the evidence of a forgotten global event in a science-fiction narrative shaped by visual culture, collective memory, and the extraordinary possibilities of human imagination.

📆 Opening Saturday, October 24 at the Aga Khan Museum.

Something otherworldly is coming to the Museum.

Opening Saturday, October 24, Saks Afridi: SpaceMosque brings to Toronto a world shaped by science fiction, Islamic visual culture, and collective memory, imagined by Pakistani American artist Saks Afridi.

At the heart of the exhibition is an extraordinary encounter. A mysterious vessel appears above Earth, setting in motion a story that blurs the boundaries between the familiar and the unknown, the earthly and the cosmic.

Through sculpture, installation, photography, and storytelling, Afridi builds a richly detailed alternate reality populated by traces of histories that feel distant yet strangely familiar, as though recalled from a memory just beyond reach.

📆 Saks Afridi: SpaceMosque will be on view at the Museum from October 24, 2026, through March 2027.

Did my new hook work?

Day 10/90 trying to book out my business for all of 2027

The goal:
100 jobs booked for 2027.

I’ll be updating the counter every time a new job is officially booked.

So far: 0/100

Since we’re still waiting on the first one, today I wanted to show you one of my previous builds.

This Z got a full custom exhaust along with some new headers, and it’s a good example of the kind of work I want to fill the 2027 schedule with.

80 days left.

If you have a project you want to get on the schedule for 2027, send me a message.
