Most of history? Unwritten.
E How much is missing?
Some researchers estimate that up to 97 percent of human history is lost
Erased by decay, disasters, colonization, war, or deliberate destruction
Entire civilizations, languages, and ideas disappeared without a trace

The truth is messier than a number
History isn’t just about what happened
It’s about what got recorded And who got to do the recording

Oral traditions were ignored
Personal stories were dismissed
Indigenous knowledge was suppressed
And dominant powers decided what was worth remembering
Even the so-called well-documented empires have massive holes
We lost entire archives from ancient Egypt, the Bronze Age, the Hittites, the Indus Valley
And what survived is often just the point of view of the victors

Paper decays
Stone crumbles
Languages die
And conquerors burn what they fear

But still, the traces remain Songs, tools, ruins, symbols, and memory
Historians and archaeologists try to piece together what was buried
But much remains hidden
Across every land and culture
There were queens, scientists, warriors, builders, philosophers
Entire civilizations left out of the books
It’s not just time to rewrite history It’s time to remember what was erased
