If you ever wonder why I talk about Jesus so much, here’s why:

At the age of 12, nine years ago, my parents told me that I would be moving back to the UK. Overnight, we went from a family of six to three. I left my brothers, my friends, and everything I had ever known behind. I was all alone.

Since then, I have moved to different cities every two years, and that came with constantly changing schools. I have attended five different schools and lived in five different houses, each of which came with its own challenges.

Every household had to make space for me, often at their own inconvenience, because I had nowhere else to go.

This situation created a mindset in me that became one of the enemy’s greatest footholds over my life: that I was someone who did not have a place, whether in those households or in life.

It was at this point that I truly encountered the Lord. I was a very broken, angry, and resentful girl, but I found shelter in Him because I related to Him. Jesus knew what it was like to have no place to call home.

Through all my difficulties, He never left me. There were times when I left exam papers almost empty. I got really sick at university, both physically and mentally, but He carried me through my assignments.

I doubted Him every time, even after every miracle, but He still graciously showed me how wrong I was to do so.

I would always wonder why He allowed me to know Him. Why am I the only girl in my family? Why am I the only one who moved away? Why was I stripped of everything I knew and forced to build a new life? Why am I the youngest, yet the first graduate in my family?
I now realise it’s because He created me to stand out and confidently tell people about the love I have experienced, which has been my only anchor.

For this cause, I would do it all over again. In my greatest pain, I met my greatest joy and greatest love. I am confident that I have a room prepared just for me in His house, one that no one can ever take away this time.
