“The family that prays together, stays together” I’ve seen this in my own life through the example of my parents. Whenever our family was faced with a trial, they taught us our first response was to drop to our knees and to ask God for help and comfort. As our 12 year old nephew Salesi Ilaoa starts his bone marrow transplant journey, we know there’s not greater power than the power of God, that comes through prayer. We love you Salesi, our family is with you through every trial you will face, you are never alone.

Not many people know this, but when I went to ask Tevita for Naite’s hand in marriage after her mission, the first question he asked me wasn’t “do you love my daughter” Lol it was “do you love the Lord?” & the 2nd question wasn’t even “do you love my daughter” lol it was “do you have a job to provide? because that’s what a man does.” at the time I didn’t have a job. 🤣 Lol I was finishing my last semester at BYU-Idaho and Naite had just come back from her mission. Tevita asked what my plans were when I finished school. I told him I planned to get a job. He asked how did I plan on getting a job? I said I’m not sure but because I Love and trust the Lord, I know he will provide. He didn’t argue with that, haha but he also didn’t let that slide Lol he made sure I knew that it wasn’t enough to just trust the lord. I had to also put it in the work. Obviously that conversation ended well cause I still got the girl. haha

Throughout the years of dating Naite and then marrying Naite, I always knew what was most important to this man. 1. Loving the Lord. 2. Love is an action, not just something you say. It is through Work and service that we show people we love them 3. If you don’t use the talents and resources you’re blessed with to help your family, then it’s all for nothing. I’ve been blessed to know Tevita Uasike Fifita. I’ve been privileged to learn from him, to have been a recipient of his hard work and service, and more importantly, I am filled with gratitude for the greatest gift he could have given me, his daughter, my wife. Melenaite Eita Fifita (she refuses to change her last name 🙄🤦🏽‍♂️) lol I think she gets her stubbornness from him Lol but She loves just as hard as he does, She works extremely hard because of him. She is as independent as they come. And all of his kids, are testaments of this great man. If you have ever encountered his children, they’ve probably made you a meal or watched your kids or pulled your weeds or cleaned your house without asking and they also probably roasted you for free with their dry jokes Haha His kids are reflections of him and the things he taught them. When I look at this beautiful women I think about how I truly married MY BEST FRIEND. Marriage is truly a beautiful thing but it’s not easy and it’s something that you have to work on daily. As my wife and have started going on regular dates and working together on our goals we have grown so much! I am truly grateful to be married to someone who pushes me to become more than I am or who I thought I could be. I am so grateful to call Melenaite Ika my best friend and eternal companion. My wife has taught me so much as we have been married and had kids. I feel like one of the things that continues to amaze me is how much she is so caring, loving, and serves everyone no matter what.

Before the day ends I want to recognize my wife and mother of my children. Even on mother’s day she still wants to care for our kids. I can’t express how thoughtful and kind this woman is. I just think of when my kids were first born she woke up every night taking care of them while I would be asleep getting rest to work the next day. Her work never stops as a mother and even when she can barley stay awake just holding our kids she uses every ounce of her strength to sacrifice for my children. They will truly never know how much she’s sacrificed for them but I hope one day they can be just like her.
