I would just like to re-introduce myself to all my new and existing followers 👋🏿

So I have been in sales for 10 years. I officially started when I saw a job advert for a marketing role and I went for the interview. I quickly realised it was a door-to-door sales role that was commission only (false advertisements ehh🤦🏿‍♂️). I just said to myself why not give it a go, so I ended up doing fundraising for a children’s blood cancer charity called Anthony Nolan and then switched over to selling food subscription for HelloFresh when they first started out. Tough job when you hear NO 98 times a day but I kept pushing through and actually did well!

Anyway went back to uni and started an events company with 3 of my friends and it was popping! 🍾

Did it for a year and then we decided to focus on our studies.

After uni I went back to selling drinks door to door for a little while before getting into tech sales.

Now in tech sales selling dash-cams and tracking software is where I learned how to close 6 figure deals. I even got involved with a £18million deal too!

Then I moved into mental health, selling a mental health app that was basically therapy in your pocket. At the beginning of 2024 I got hit with redundancy (God knew I had to go if I wanted to grow even more).

At the same time I decided to look for a PT. An online coach found me and I offered to pay him some money but also have a look at his sales. When we first started working together his conversion rate was 20%. After a month of working together and me giving him tips and new strategies, his conversion rate went up to 75%!! That’s when I realised I can put my sales skills to use in a different way and what birthed Sales With Doug! 🙌🏿

So stick with me on this journey 🙏🏿🫡 by @saleswithdoug

There are two numbers every founder should know.

1) How many qualified sales calls you’re booking.

2) How many of those calls you’re closing.

That’s it.

If you’re booking two calls a month and closing both, you’ve got a lead generation problem.

If you’re booking 20 and closing one, you’ve got a sales conversion problem.

And if both numbers are low?

Well we’ve got some work to do 😂

The important thing is understanding where the bottleneck actually is.

Because throwing more leads at a broken sales process is an expensive mistake.

You’ve got clients and you got results.

So why does every month still feel like starting again?

This is something I see with coaches and agency owners all the time.

They’ve already proven their offer works.
People have paid them and they’ve delivered results.

But they’re still constantly chasing the next client.
The issue isn’t always the offer.

Sometimes it’s simply that there’s no repeatable system for generating qualified conversations and converting them into sales.

And until that changes, every month feels like another uphill battle.

Making £10k one month and £2k the next?

That’s one of the most frustrating parts of running a business.

You can have a great month.

You start thinking you’ve finally cracked it.

Then the following month... nothing.

Suddenly you’re questioning your offer, pricing and whether you need to start running ads.

This is something that is worth looking at first.

How many qualified sales conversations are you
consistently having each week?

And how many are turning into paying clients?

Because when those two numbers are all over the place, your revenue probably will be too.

Save this and start tracking those two numbers if you’re not doing so already.

Imagine waking up on Monday with three qualified sales calls already booked.

No panic or wondering where the next client is coming from.

You’re not desperately posting content hoping somebody reaches out.

Just three conversations with people who could help genuinely benefit from what you offer.

That’s the kind of consistency I want more founders to experience.

And it’s why I’ve started helping coaches and agency owners build LinkedIn systems designed to book 3+ qualified calls every week.

Remember though that booking calls is only half the job.

You’ve still got to know how to convert them.

I always say that more leads won’t save a terrible sales process.

I’ve seen founders spend thousands trying to generate more leads.

Running more ads, doing more outreach and creating a lot more content.

And when those leads finally book a call, they still don’t convert.

On the flip side, I’ve seen founders who are genuinely good at sales but barely have anybody to speak to.

Both are expensive and frustrating problems.

That’s why I now focus on helping founders improve the entire journey.

From LinkedIn conversation, to booked call, to paying client.

Oh by the way save this if you’re serious about building a more predictable sales pipeline.

Referrals are great.

Until they stop coming.

There’s nothing better than a happy client recommending you.

No cold outreach or any convincing.

Just someone who’s already heard good things about you.

Lovely stuff right eh 😂… but there’s one problem.

You can’t control when the next referral arrives.

And if that’s your only source of clients, you’re leaving your pipeline in somebody else’s hands.

Build a system that creates opportunities even when nobody is recommending you.

That’s how you start getting some predictability into your business.

Been a while but im back 🤞🏿

Hear me out on this one though.

Your calendar is empty again.

Now what?

Monday morning and you open your calendar.

One sales call booked for the entire week…

And suddenly you’re thinking about posting more content, messaging old leads and asking clients for referrals.

This might sound very familiar 😅

This is the reality for so many coaches and agency owners.

They’ve got a great offer and they know how to deliver results.

But they’ve got no predictable way of getting people onto their calendar.

Depending on your offer.. IG can be great but LinkedIn has WAY more decision makers with deeper pockets.

That’s why I’ve become a big believer in having a proper LinkedIn lead generation system.

One that consistently creates conversations with the right people and turns them into qualified sales calls.

Because you can’t close clients you aren’t speaking to.

Some coaches and agencies treat their calendar like an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Everyone’s welcome.

No questions asked 😂

Then they wonder why half their week disappears speaking to people who were never buying.

Your calendar isn’t public transport (unless you want to become part of Transport for London??)

Not everyone deserves a seat.

Protect it.
