🎨 Art studio tour! Come with me to my studio at @thecompoundgallery in Emeryville ✨

Just a day in the life of an artist wrangling ADHD.

My mission is to create playful, hopeful stories to help young people navigate a changing world.

Lately I’ve been blending my art practice with my activism – like bicycle advocacy and climate justice.

I painted this bus bench for North Berkeley BART! After 10 hours of painting, the anti-graffiti coating melted the paint job! 😭

I had to sand it down and start over.

The full story (composition struggles, the paint melting disaster, and what I learned from the process) coming soon to my Substack — link in my bio. 🚌🎨

Happy 10-9 you crazy animals. Final dump of 2002 NYC #messlife photos. Lots of these are me, so Zuck can scan my face, feed it to his fascist AI playdoh fun factory, and make more ZuckBucks, buy another island. by @sally.illo

Warriors NYC 2002!!! Help me tag people in the comments – I want folks to find these pics of their teams. The night started sundown in the Bronx and it poured. We all got soaked in our costumes, then the road was wet. We finished sunrise on Coney Island. @cyclehawk threw the sickest alleycat I’ve ever done. Felt like we took over the city for the night, tearing around corners at top speed and almost crashing into other teams. Old Dirty South/ RVA crew represent!! @hughwallace3 @crankyjimc @reloadbags @ashira26 @triplerush @nycbma RIP Bronx Jon #messlife by @sally.illo

I've been watching all the pics roll in from @cyclehawk and @fasteddiearchives this week— so much fun seeing the old crew! ✨🥹💗

I pulled out my NYC 2001-2002 photo archive, all messenger pics. I'm going to upload them this week.

Hoping folks can help me tag other people in the posts so they can get these old photos of themselves & homies from back in the day!

I lost contact with almost everyone in NYC from back then, it was pre smartphone era, and I left my candybar phone in the back of a taxi in Chicago right after I left NYC.

Then I wasn't on social media for a loooong time. Hoping posting some pics will get me back in touch with the old NYC messenger community! 🙏 More to come by @sally.illo

Incredible that staring at clouds is part of my job now. I left a 25 year career in Tech to become an Illustrator. So relieved to look at clouds instead of AI crap. #babysfirstreel by @sally.illo

Hey it's me, Sally (and Kermit). A real, actual human making art. I quit my career in Tech to make art for a living 😬😅 Gonna post how it goes here. I'll probably be bad at it for while, but ...YOLO! K, bye! selfie of Sally Carson and Kermit the Dog out in nature by @sally.illo
