September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day.

I decided to make today's post more personal than I'm honestly comfortable with. It's really hard putting yourself out there especially when you have anxiety that you fuel with unhealthy amounts of coffee.

Most of my memories from childhood are not happy ones, and of the ones that are most included animals in some way. I still struggle with SI to this day but I am better than I once was.

It's not always easy to see the blue sky beyond the storm clouds, just remember no storm lasts forever. Some are just longer than others but that blue sky is always on the other side.

If I have ever told you I am here if you need to talk.

Please know that it came straight from the heart.

I hope you all find a reason to keep writing your beautiful stories.

What's something that you have changed since you started your Instagram journey?

Looking back, I have realized I have changed quite a bit with how I use Instagram. The way I used to use Instagram used too much of my energy and honestly felt hollow.

I like the changes I've made and the direction this account is heading. I like the stronger feeling of community it has compared to when I first started on my other account. If you've been with me since the beginning and to everyone who is new, welcome.

This is an account where I post daily life, support: rescue, small businesses and artists when I can. (Remember engagement is free and it helps) I'll repost a lot of adoptable animals, things I care about, like or find funny, animal welfare related posts.

I'm using Instagram the way that feels the most natural to me and honestly, it's so much better now.

I think sometimes it's forget that there is a whole person on the other side of the dog.

You don't know why someone feeds what they feed.

You don't know what they've tried with their reactive dog.

You don't know why they use a certain tool, what their dog's history is, or what they're dealing with behind the scenes.

You can disagree with someone's choices. That's okay.

But there is a difference between disagreeing and making someone feel like shit for not doing things the way you would.

Dog ownership is hard enough without feeling like you're constantly being judged by other dog owners.

We're all just trying to do right by our dogs. We don't have to do it exactly the same way. 💜

I'm also thankful that the snow we got this weekend didn't stick around 😂

We're not celebrating until Friday when some of Sally's grandpawrents come from Ontario! Figured might as well wait and actually celebrate with some family 💜

Fun fact about me and how I cook turkey. I'm not a big fan of stuffing , so I love stuffing turkey with a combo of fruit and veggies and fresh herbs. It gives the stock a light fruity aroma depending on what you use and it doesn't affect the flavor it's perfect for fall/winter soup.

I hope all of our Canadian friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Fuck stigma of all kinds honestly.

Today is World Mental Health Day but we should be talking about mental health more than once a year.

I've had my own struggles with mental health, and trying to improve my mental health and become a better version of myself is always going to be a part of my life. It's not something you just figure out one day and never have to work on again.

There's still so much stigma around mental health, and I wish we could talk about it more openly without people feeling ashamed or being judged for what they're going through.

If you're struggling in any way please reach out. You matter.

Fuck the stigma. Let's keep having these conversations long after today is over.

What's something you do to help your mental health?

When I can I like to get tattoos, many of them cover up scars and allow me to actually be seen. Before I got them I got a lot of disgusted looks from people.

I'm just glad I didn't use a permanent solution for a temporary problem.

One year ago today I made an Instagram account for my dog Sally and so much has changed in a mere 365 days. The way I see Instagram and the way I use it has changed.

I honestly love the direction I am taking Sally's page. I don't feel restricted to one category. It's a little bit of everything. Sometimes we're having fun and sometimes we get a little real. On a rare occasion I can think of something funny.

I want to thank you all so much

For every like, comment, and share (especially when rescue animals are involved)

For participating in my little collaborations whether they are silly, spread a message or support small businesses it means so much.

For just posting your pets living their best lives. It has made me smile more times than I can count.

Getting to meet the owner of @thehumblehoundcollective is the reason I decided to bring these back! I will absolutely be doing more in the future! She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met and Sally absolutely loved her too. I love Sally's bow and my matching scrunchie! The white on the fabric glows in the dark, so cool!! I really like that she sells accessories for pups AND their humans.

First off a huge shout out to my past self for getting a photo of puppy Sally on a walk and also getting it on my phone at some point

Sorry I really deserved that.

I love that this is something I have been able to give Sally. It's a chance where her voice can be heard I am fortunate enough to have the time to listen.

I just want to be clear I understand not every one is able to do that and that's absolutely okay. There's more than 1 way for a dog to live a good life.
