Happy birthday, Salma. ❤️ This is what I hear in what you’re saying:

“Did we make it?”

Look at us, little girl. We’re 47 today. ❤️

We’ve built a life to be proud of. We can stand on our own two feet. And we have so much to be thankful for.

Watching this makes me emotional because I see more than who I’ve become. I see where I come from.

I come from strong, hardworking, entrepreneurial people who have lived through hardship and kept going. A family that gave me drive, courage, and so much love. And that warm, open, Lebanese way of making friends wherever we go and making people feel like family? I’m so grateful that’s part of me, too.

By the grace of God, with my family behind me and friends beside me, I’ve built a life that little girl couldn’t have imagined.

Today, I’m proud of myself. And so deeply appreciative of the people who have helped me become this woman.

We made it, little girl. Look how loved we are. ❤️

Welcome back to Austin with Salma - Episode 5!

No host stand. No reservation. No wait list. Just a window, a picnic table, and a dog who already knows what is coming.

Austin eats out of trailers. It is one of my favorite things about this city, roughly fifteen hundred food trucks and no dress code anywhere. Spicy Boys opened in 2019 as one trailer behind Zilker Brewing, started by Teddy Bricker, the Austin guy already running the Soursop truck. Thai-leaning fried chicken, Sichuan spice, Thai basil, thighs that stay juicy under all that crunch. Austin has a lot of Korean fried chicken and almost nobody doing the Thai version, which is why this one stands out. Seven years in, they are still a trailer. Four of them now, every one parked at a local brewery or taproom.

I had the spicy nuggets and the classic. Rufus had a few bites and gave it his full approval.

Hours: 11 to 9 Monday, 11 to 10 Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 to 11 Thursday through Saturday, 11 to 8 Sunday

Cost: most orders under 20 dollars
Parking: street only, tight at peak hours
Dogs: patio seating, Rufus approved
