After weeks of learning, collaboration, creative exploration, and building meaningful connections, the Building Bridges Project for Creatives residency culminates in a showcase—a shared stage where creatives-in-residence bring their journeys to life through individual performances and collaborative group pieces. It is where distinct voices, experiences, and artistic expressions come together to tell a bigger story: one shaped by diversity, strengthened by collaboration, and united by our shared humanity. Here are some moments from the showcase of BBPC Cohort 1, where individual creativity met collective expression, and the bridges built throughout the residency found a voice on stage. Different voices. Shared stories. One stage. #BBPC #BuildingBridgesProject #SimplyPoetryFoundation #CreativeResidency #ArtForSocialChange #CreativityInServiceOfHumanity by @salome_adetutu

We spend a lot of our lives looking at the world and assuming that things are simply the way they are. But where did some of our ideas come from? The idea of success we are chasing. The things we want. The lives we imagine for ourselves. The things we fear. Even the way we see ourselves. How much of it did we actually choose? This month at Monthly Creative Recollection, we’re gathering to go Beyond the Veil. Inspired by John Carpenter’s They Live, we’ll watch a film and spend the evening thinking about the things that sit beneath the surface of our everyday lives. What have we been taught to want? What ideas have we accepted without questioning them? And what might we find if we stopped and looked again? Come as you are. Bring a friend. Bring something to share for our potluck table. Let’s spend an evening looking beyond what is right in front of us. The room went from being a class and a rehearsal space into a full-blown theatre stage, the moment these dynamic creatives from the very first BBPC cohort brought their art to life. This was how they built the bridge... And even now, the bridge continues to extend through all of us. by @salome_adetutu
The children did come! We’re so grateful for the children, parents and staff of @ilamp_initiative and @awujoola_ng who joined us at the Kids Creative Collage Workshop, programmed within the Collage Lagos exhibition. Our workshop facilitator, Salome Adetutu (@salome_adetutu) did an excellent job in guiding them through the collage-making workshop as well as the recollection exercise. We saw our participants ask themselves “What happens when…”, “What do I like…”, “Who do I…” type questions. And those questions produced beautiful stories and poetry. Our guests particularly enjoyed watching the children run round the gallery space, hang up their poems and display their paper collages as part of the installation. We miss the chatter of children within the exhibition & we appreciate every child who shared a poem with us. Thank you for writing with us! by @salome_adetutu
Last weekend, Children from Àwùjọ Ọla kids had the opportunity to participate in a creative collage and poetry workshop hosted by The Global Cento, facilitated by @salome_adetutu It was a beautiful afternoon of creativity, storytelling, and self-expression. We’re grateful to @theglobalcento for the invitation and for creating a space where our children could explore, imagine, and create freely. Thank you @ofem.ubi @ugothegood @chrisudoh_ @ccalagos Here’s a little recap. 💛 #AwujoOla #AwujoOlaKids #CreativeLearning #ArtsEducation #communityart by @salome_adetutu
There is a tendency to think joy arrives with the extraordinary. But what if it has been quietly waiting in the ordinary all along? The cup of tea before everyone wakes. The friend who always remembers to check in. The tree you pass every morning. The song that still makes you smile. The meal that tastes like home. The moments so small they almost disappear before we remember they mattered. This month at Monthly Creative Recollection, we’re gathering to Count Our Joys. To practice noticing the quiet things that continue to make life worth living. Together, we’ll reflect on the people, rituals, memories, and fleeting moments that have carried us further than we often realize. Come as you are. Bring a friend. Bring something to share for our potluck table. Let’s remember, together, that sometimes the smallest lights are enough to guide us home. [All Seats Now Taken] We’re looking forward to Sunday when children join us at Collage, Lagos! We’re delighted to be hosting ten children from @ilamp_initiative and @awujoola_ng to an art workshop facilitated by artist and children educator, Salome Adetutu (@salome_adetutu.) In the three-hour workshop, children will explore recalling and naming their experiences and emotions while they respond to half-finished poems and make paper collages. We offer them space to draw, paint, write and craft. We look forward to their excitement, colour and the freedom in all that they create. • Open writing and recording sessions at Collage Lagos run simultaneously with our workshops. So, join us in the background! August 1-3, 2026. We look forward to writing with you. by @salome_adetutu
