I may have been sick in bed all day chugging cough syrup but I thankfully have enough energy to do a Big Boast Post about some goings-on since the release of Reviews, Or Sermons 🙂‍↕️

Have been v v heartened by the support we’ve received from radio on the single - a massive thank you to @gideoncoe and @empilbeam on @bbc6music for the spins, a bucket list moment to hear my tune on 6! Also to @stephaniecheapeofficial on @bbcintroducing @bbcradioscot and @roddyhart for making ‘Reviews’ his Mixtape Moment, which means it’s on the daytime BBC Radio Scotland playlist from today 💙

Finally a shout out to @itsmichaellambert for going consistently above and beyond and for also making all the assets on this post hehehehe

Oh my gosh folks, 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘𝒔, 𝑶𝒓 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒔 is out for listening!

Firstly a massive thank you to my beautiful band, @finnan_mclean @heathermcrae_bass and @theolederf - who before recording this song completely live at @black_bay_studio had never actually played together before (fair to say we nailed it), and to @mathewantony and @samirvinemusic for their magical sprinkles of piano and clarinet 🪄

@jamestrevascus for mixing and being with me since the last release nearly 7 years ago, @cicelybalston for mastering mastery, and @kali.lr for the fastest pro tools fingers in the west 🐎

I’m not big on explaining the story behind songs, lest I trample on the meaning created in people’s own heads, but I’ll share a little here. This song was written in a tumultuous time (very original). I remember being on an evening walk with my dog, where I caught myself in a familiar pattern - in times of distress I would look for signs in everything, signs I was on the right path, that my decisions were the right ones, symbols that could tell me I was a good person. I am not religious, I would perhaps identify as spiritual, but ‘Reviews’ is somewhat about that seeking of comfort and validation from the world, in the ways I imagine religious people receive from their faith.

You can listen in all the usual places whenever you see fit.

My new single, ‘Reviews, Or Sermons’ comes out tomorrow ! ♡ I went back through my phone memos to see when I first recorded it, and assembled a collection of photos from my camera roll from that time. I think I was hoping to find some sort of poignant context, alas I did not. by @salstenning

hellœ world I’m excited to announce that I have a single coming out next Wednesday 30th September! It’s been a long ass time since I released my own music and it feels so good to be getting this song out of my brain and into the ether.

I’ll save further ramblings for release day but in the meantime, you can tune into @bbcintroducing @bbcradioscot TONIGHT for a sneaky preview 📻
