Really stubborn fish, kept trying to throw the hooks but couldn’t shake them off, and I had to reset them a few times before it finally stayed pinned.

I was pacing myself since I’d already gone through around 6 tunas in a row, but once the captain called out it had already been 15 minutes, I stepped it up and put more pressure on.

It was clearly spent by the time it came up, you could tell from its stomach coming out of its mouth.

The fight went about 17 minutes on 15 kilos of drag, all done solo with no harness. It came in at 72 kilos in the end.

2024 archives. Didn’t expect a Black Kingy of this size in the Singapore Strait.

I thought I’d hit a snag and tried to force it free, then the line started running.

The fight ran for about 12 minutes on 10 kilos of drag. It came in at 34 kilos in the end.
