“Welcome to Berlin!”
Cabaret, my dream show, has closed. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to tell this story. Cabaret is a tragedy, but also a celebration of diversity and culture. I hope everyone who came along for the ride had a good time while they could. I also hope this show has inspired some of you to look more into what happened in Germany during the 1930s through the 40s. It is not something that is done justice in the education system or media. Through the process of playing Ernst Ludwig, it became ever more prevalent how insane it is that we ever let these events happen. We can never let anything like that happen again, and it is solely up to us, the people, to do everything in our power to stop it. This show gives everyone a strong warning: even if you are living in peace, you can never turn a blind eye to the injustice around you. I hope this sticks with you.

I would like to first thank the people who came to see the show. The warning this show has is rudimentary if there are not people to be warned. Thank you for multiple sold out shows, and (mostly) reacting the way you needed to. I would like to thank the cast and orchestra. Being in this show was already a dream, but to do it with some of the best performers I have ever met only made it more impactful. Thank you everyone for doing the show justice. Finally, I would like to thank the crew. The crew’s work was just as impactful as the actors, and their dedication was felt on stage. Thank you Rachel Dawson, the stage managers, the designers, and the rest of the backstage crew for letting this story be told.

AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE

What a beautiful show I got to be apart of. The cast, the crew, the directors, and the audience were all so amazing and you all truly made this a memorable experience. Hovstad is one of the most interesting characters I have ever had the pleasure to play, and I am sure I won’t forget about him anytime soon. Working with and even being on stage with my professors was such a beautiful time. To my cast, thank you for being such good people that I could actually stand seeing each and everyone of you everyday from 630-10. You are all such awesome-inspiring performers and some of the nicest people I have ever met. To the crew, thank you for being the hidden backbone that kept this show together. From stage managers to fly rails, you all helped shape this experience into what it was. To my directors, thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow. This has been the most challenging performance I have done yet, and I would have got nowhere without you two. I am going to miss being with my enemies of the people. SKOL!

What an amazing show to start my Winthrop Theatre career with. The cast, the crew, and the audience have been so welcoming and kind. I will miss this show, Five, and that daggum awesome set so much. Aidan, thank you for thinking I am cool enough to be in this show. As always, “I have a sandwich.”
