The day has finally arrived where we can share a little secret we’ve been harbouring. We’re delighted to announce the publication of our debut book, A New English Style: Timeless Interiors by Salvesen Graham.

Featuring a unique collection of our projects from around the world – some as yet unseen. It’s been a real passion project, years in the making and a pleasure to work with our friend @mrdavidnicholls whose excellently crafted words are the perfect accompaniment.

It’s out on 1st May and for our friends across the Atlantic on 6th May. You can pre-order your copy now using the link in our bio and there’ll be signed copies in a special book bag available to pre-order on our website. Stay tuned for details of book signings events & panel discussions across the UK and US from May onwards.

In this Country Estate, we wanted to bring colour, pattern and plenty of life to this beautiful Palladian house, while keeping its wonderful history and architecture at the heart of the design. It is a house that feels properly lived in, with old and new sitting happily together and plenty of room for the next chapter. by @salvesengraham

Our go to bed decoration. The bed takes up a significant amount of visual space in a bedroom, so we tend to avoid leaving too much of it white or undecorated. Layering an eiderdown or quilt in one of our fabrics, alongside cushions and a bolster, is an easy way to bring colour and pattern into the room and make the bed feel like part of the wider scheme. It is also an opportunity to mix different scales and patterns, rather than making everything too coordinated.

Wallpaper in the bathroom is one of our favourite design features. It brings pattern and personality to what can otherwise be a rather hard, practical room.

The key is to think carefully about where you use it. Keep wallpaper away from areas that receive direct splashes, and make sure the room is well ventilated. In a smaller bathroom, wallpaper can also be a lovely way to make the space feel more decorative and considered.

The best seating arrangements are those that encourage people to sit, talk and linger. There’s no need for everything to be angled inwards. A sofa and chairs can sit neatly and straight on, while still feeling relaxed and inviting. It’s about creating a room that feels considered, without becoming overly formal. by @salvesengraham

A trim delights the eye and resolves the room. It frames, structures, and teases out the colours of a scheme. And with its varying twists and loops of yarn, it adds a sense of texture and tactility.

For the collection, @salvesengraham looked close to home for inspiration, from the wool trade towns of medieval Yorkshire and clay-capped vales to the herbaceous borders of Mary’s own garden.

Across four distinctive designs, each brings its own character to a room. Woven through upholstery, drapery and the finer details of a scheme, they’re designed to sit comfortably amongst the layers of pattern, colour and texture that make an interior feel complete.

We’re looking forward to joining @countrylifemagazine and @giles.kime at Daylesford Farmhouse on Friday 2nd October for a conversation about one of our favourite subjects: making a country house work for modern life.

Country houses rarely come as a neat package. There are the main rooms, outbuildings, cottages, barns and all sorts of spaces that have acquired different purposes over the years. The challenge, and often the fun, is working out how they can work together without losing the character and history that make them special in the first place.

Nicole will be joining Ross Sharpe of @yiangouarchitects chitects, Edward Smith of @artoriusfaber , Andrew Petherick of @guildanderson and Greg Tirri of @rwarmstronggroup to share ideas and some of the practical realities of working with country houses.

We’ll be talking layouts, materials, furniture and everything in between, with hopefully a few useful ideas to take away.
