Basically my job is professional people watching, with a camera in hand. I can't turn it off for even one second on wedding day.

Here are some moments I felt my couple would want to look back on someday.

A lot of people outside of the industry ask me if weddings stress me out, and the honest answer is NO!!

I absolutely love being responsible for photographing weddings. Sure there's a little chaos sometimes, but knowing how and when to pivot solves 99% of any challenge on a wedding day. We take it in stride, we focus on preserving the memories we know matter, and we genuinely have a good time.

I can't imagine ever stepping away from photographing weddings, because they bring me absolute joy and fulfillment.

Frames I absolutely love from Cynthia and Michael's reception, with a few sweet couple photos sprinkled in for fun.

Can you spot the difference between what's digital and what was shot on film? 🎞️

Sometimes I love a really creative shoe shot, but other times they're so perfect as they are that I simply choose not to touch it. by @sam.hanley.photography

Sarah and Cam, where do I start?

I've never seen so many people in tears over a couple. Never seen the entire guest list belly laughing over speeches for minutes on end. Matcha being served to guests as they arrived. A couple so unapologetically themselves. Friends who really show up for them. Honest, playful, fun. Their day felt exactly like them, and I was invited into their inner circle like it was the most natural thing in the world.

This day was legendary. Loved it, and love them.

If their engagement photos turned out like this, I can only imagine how incredible their wedding photos will be next spring 🔥

Ava and Mike let their love show. It was amazing to behold, and beautiful to photograph.

The whole day we kept saying to ourselves, "wow, this is just so easy." Anna and Simon meant it when they said their wedding was meant to be a fun celebration. More importantly, they followed through on it.

They leaned on their team to handle things and didn't sweat the small stuff. Nothing felt forced, time flowed smoothly and their amazing attitudes carried the perfect energy into their day.

I always say I'm there to preserve a wedding's essence, and I truly feel like I did that justice for Anna & Simon.

Nadianie and Alexis's art gallery wedding 🖼️

A crisp fall day, a playful group of people, and space for everything to fall into place exactly as it should.

There is so much more to share, and I'm especially excited to see the film scans 🎞️

This year, I've focused on budgeting smaller time blocks for couple photos. For Jessika and Adrien, that looked like 15 minutes of portrait time after their ceremony and family photos. Then, when the sun started to set, we snuck outside for another 10 minutes to get a few more photos.

The result is two sets of photos, taken in the same location, but with two different feelings. One is bright, playful and lively. The other is softer, romantic and dreamy. They then got the added benefit of spending quality time with their guests, settling in during reception and eating a full plate of food (you'd be surprised how challenging this often is!).

It's important to strike a balance. You deserve beautiful photos, and you deserve to actually live in your day. I'm here to help you figure out what that balance should be and ensure it's respected. 🤍
