Surprise! I wrote another book! 🚀👽🛰️

THE LAWS OF LOVE AND GRAVITY is my spin on Legally Blonde set at a summer space program, in which Zoe follows her newly minted ex-boyfriend to Camp Gravity to win him back after an unexpected post-graduation breakup. But her plans are thrown into turmoil when Hazel, her estranged childhood best friend, blows back into town in his typical Hazel chaos and announces he’ll be joining them for the summer.

Time to start the 6 month countdown to THE ROOMMATE ARRANGEMENT! ⛅️

This book follows Blair and Jamie when they accidentally end up as—you guessed it—roommates for the summer semester! (Along with a chaotic crew of sophomores in their very crowded apartment!)

Blair is a type-A overachiever recently dropped by her best friends and barely treading water in her ultra-competitive summer computer science program.

Jamie is a perpetually-exhausted secret soft boy with big dreams and a bigger heart, all hidden under a lot of heavy sighs and reluctance. (Also, he’s her brother’s best friend.)

Darum geht es:
Zugegeben, vielleicht ist Blair ein kleines bisschen ein Kontrollfreak, aber so richtig zu viel? 🤨 Das würde sie so nicht von sich behaupten – bis ihre beiden Freundinnen sie kurz vor Unistart in Florida fallen lassen und aus dem Traumhaus direkt am Strand werfen. 🫢 Auf den letzten Drücker landet sie bei ein paar schrägen, aber umso liebenswerten College-Studis. C’est fini!
 Nous avons eu l’occasion de découvrir 5 romans:

⁃ Babysitting Mortel (chronique complète disponible dans mon feed): un thriller original, un babysitting qui tourne mal dans une dystopie bien construit.  
⁃ I hope this doesn’t find you (chronique complète aussi disponible dans mon feed) Une histoire d’amour ennemies to lovers dans un lycée à l’opposé de A tous les garçons que j’ai aimé ce ne sont pas des lettres d’amour qui sont envoyées… 
⁃ Love off the record de Samantha Markum: une romance universitaire rivals to lovers qui abordent des thèmes importants comme l’estime de soi, la pression de l’école, les problèmes familiaux, la grossophobie… J’ai passé un chouette moment de lecture et j’ai aimé les thèmes abordés même si je les aurais souhaité parfois un peu plus profonds. J’étais également un peu surprise de retrouver une deuxième fois ce trope dans la sélection.  
⁃ Echec au roi de Emily Wibberley et Austin Siegmond Broka« Un mariage et une vengeance : Olivia a tout prévu pour faire payer son père infidèle, mais entre invités fouineurs et fantômes du passé, son plan parfait pourrait bien déraper… » Une lecture sympathique, qui changeait des précédentes avec plein de rythme, l’histoire (même si peu plausible) est pleine de rebondissements dans un laps de temps assez court avec une chouette équipe et un ex-petit ami un peu trop curieux.  
⁃ Nobody in Particular de Sophie Gonzales. Beaucoup de choses intéressantes dans ce roman, les relations amoureuses, la pression familiale, l’homosexualité, les classes sociales, l’ambiance pensionnat mais des rythmes variés: par moment très prenant par moment certaines longueurs inutiles…

Vous l’aurez compris, j’ai globalement apprécié les 5 lectures proposées sans pour autant avoir un réel coup de coeur pour l’un des romans, chacun avait des éléments super sympas mais tous aussi des petites choses qui m’ont moins plu. Dommage, j’avais eu un réel coup de coeur pour celui de l’an dernier: Hyper!

Néanmoins chacun des romans apporte quelque chose à son lecteur et je remercie beaucoup PKJ de m’avoir fait participer à mon premier jury.  A très vite pour les résultats!  Sarah by @sam.markum

Hejka, zapraszam was na recenzję „𝐓𝐨 𝐬𝐢𝐞̨ 𝐦𝐨𝐳̇𝐞 𝐳́𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐨𝐧́𝐜𝐳𝐲𝐜́”, czyli książki pełnej pranków i plot twistów.

Choć po skończeniu tej książki miałam w głowie jedno wielkie 𝐰𝐨𝐰, początek zapowiadał się całkowicie inaczej. Pierwsze 50 stron może i nie było nudne, ale za to pełne chaosu. Nie mogłam połapać się, kto kogo nienawidzi, a kto się z kim przyjaźni. Czytając recenzje innych, kompletnie się tego nie spodziewałam, a sprawiło to, że na chwilę odłożyłam książkę na półkę.

Ostatnim minusem była (moim zdaniem)zaniżona kategoria wiekowa. Niektóre podteksty czy słownictwo były dla mnie zbędne i wprawiały mnie w dyskomfort.

Ale przechodząc do plusów - na pewno chcę pochwalić autorkę za pomysł na fabułę. Wojna między szkołami… Boże, jakie to było dobre 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️ Czytając tę historię, dało się wyczuć napięcie i stres, kiedy bohaterki omal nie zostały przyłapane na gorącym uczynku. Jeśli szukacie książki z motywami, których jeszcze nie czytaliście, to ta będzie dla was idealna.

Świetny był także klimat tej historii.Trochę taka mroczna akademia, która skrywa w sobie wiele sekretów. Sposób, w jaki uczennice tej szkoły oraz główne bohaterki razem z przyjaciółkami walczyły o swoją szkołę i pomagały innym uczennicom, gdy w grę wchodził ten jeden nauczyciel, sprawiał, że lektura była naprawdę przyjemna.

Jeśli chodzi o głównych bohaterów, to naprawdę ich polubiłam. Mimo że obydwoje mieli swoje wady, to w pewnym sensie ich rozumiałam. Dodatkowo główna bohaterka była naprawdę silna i odważna, co bardzo przyciąga mnie w książkach. Chciałabym także odnieść się do drugo planowych bohaterów, którzy ogromnie zapadli mi w pamięć. Podobało mi się to, że każda przyjaciółka 𝐃𝐨𝐞 miała swój charakter i zainteresowania, a mimo to idealnie się uzupełniały. Miały naprawdę duży wpływ na tę historię, dzięki czemu nie zabrakło plot twistów czy nagłych zwrotów akcji.

Crossed off a huge massive pie in the sky bucket list moment by not just meeting the incredible, inimitable @sdessen, but ALSO by being her conversation partner??? Did I ever think I’d get to meet the author who is the reason I write YA, let alone get to ask her all my most pressing questions? And most importantly, did I ever imagine that teenage me was correct when I read This Lullaby and could not stop imagining Adam Brody as Dexter?

If you’re the type of person who has that “don’t meet your heroes” fear and she’s yours too, I’m here to tell you that you are SO safe to meet your hero. Omg. You’re so safe. She’s exactly who you hope she’ll be. by @sam.markum
