Queen of the Night~ 2026

Welded metal rods, fabric, gemstones, wire & a 3D printed blooming interior flower

Inspired by the Queen of the Night flower, this sculpture symbolizes ephemeral beauty, fleeting moments, and hidden treasures. Blooming for only a single night once a year, the flower represents the importance of cherishing the short but unforgettable moments of life, highlighting how brief moments can hold eternal meaning. It serves as a powerful metaphor for the fragile nature of life, using a combination of strong and delicate materials to emphasize its enchanting nature and beauty. I was particularly inspired upon learning the stories and myths behind this flower: a Chinese legend of a flower goddess who was punished for falling in love with a mortal man was turned into a flower that can only bloom briefly at night to see him once a year. This flower serves as a symbol of romance and enchantment, showing that brevity doesn’t less beauty; if anything, it enhances it. by @samanthabrandd
