I’ve been wanting to actually clean this choreo since I was learning it from a YouTube video during 2020 COVID quarantine in my tiny apartment living room. S/o to my sister @kristenlynn93 for gifting me the tutorial and a big thank you to the artist @galenhooks for making classes accessible to those of us who aren’t in big dance cities. Also s/o to @galenhooks for the shirt I’m wearing. Sometimes I catch myself saying “I grew up dancing” instead of “I am a dancer” 💃✨ claim it. by @samanthazalewski

Threaded with Love 💕

It’s OK I’m OK 🎶😅

The perfect two “mottos” as April has been packed with blessings and opportunities already! A HUGE congratulations to @msadlee for her documentary premiered at @cincyartmuseum ✨ I can’t express my gratitude in being apart of your creative vision. Thank you to @dime_dabratt and @paris_aumiere for your fire choreography and reaching out to me for the opportunity to be a part of this. I loved dancing with you all and bringing this to life @cemprae 💃🏻🫶🏻. S/o to @vernardfields for bringing together these wonderful shots 🎥. I had such a time in this first scene truly in awe of Alishia’s designs. Thank you for the honor of playing in your studio and wearing your designs. I had the best time dancing around your designs and playing with fabrics. Thank you for trusting me with a creative vision and allowing me the creative freedom in this initial scene to try out different ideas and bring one of my favorite art forms to life in your film 🩰. Much love to the art scene in cincinnati which has allowed me to keep my dance dreams alive even though I didn’t pursue it as a career. And of course the upmost thank you to my people. My family, friends, and my man who came to support and those who couldn’t make it but that I feel the support from daily. You all inspire me 🫶🏻
The Threaded with Love project and premiere has been a dream. Congratulations Alishia and team! ✨ taken in Cincinnati Art Museum by @samanthazalewski

Master of Science 🎓

Initially I wasn’t giving myself flowers because this took me longer than a traditional 2 years and I graduated after a lot of the people I started with but I am proud of myself for seeing it through. I navigated changing around my thesis many times due to research just not always playing out like you want it to with limited funding, COVID pandemic, participation/ recruitment, etc. I’m also happy I stuck to doing research that was important to me (dance, disordered eating, nutrition) rather than switching just to get it done. I also prioritized balancing creative endeavors and pouring into other parts of my life simultaneously - remember not to compare timelines when it comes to how you live your life. I’m beyond thankful for my support system especially my family during this season of life. I did that! It’s worth it, believe in yourself ✨ taken in University of Cincinnati by @samanthazalewski
