Another auspicious expired roll, love me some Kodak gold. Lot of different moments captured with lots of new faces, and there are far more people worth mentioning than this post has space for. I feel like my eye for framing shots has improved, although once again I took my time making my way through this roll - it can demand more discipline than one might think. Glad to be able to capture part of life in a physical manner, why did we ever go digital?

i really enjoyed composing this cover, filling the audial space, deciding on chord voicings, plus some good mixing practice. looking forward to posting more of this sort of thing for you all to enjoy and critique. thank you upperroom for making beautiful art: especially this favourite of mine.

Italy 🇮🇹 + bonus

1. Columns from the Temple of Castor and Pollux (Roman forum)

My favourites of two film rolls, most of which were taken in Italy earlier this year. It was a very real thing to be walking amongst tangible history, accompanied by good friends and new culture. An eventful trip to say the least, hectic at times, but a reason I always take a camera with me. I feel as though I’m getting better at framing my shots, or finding good angles - one foot in front of the other, still not a professional photographer by any means.
Lots of fun memories made with great people. Thanks Ryan and Anna for getting married and making a kiwi step foot in Italy before he’s even been to Australia.

What a fun little trip that was almost completely different to the original plan. Somehow we made it home and now I’ve got a lovely roll of Portra800 to remember it by. Such an easy film to shoot, super bright and good for indoors. Paired with the crazy zoom on my camera, this is a lethal weapon of photography. To all the people I was able to see again, (but this time on your soil) much love 🫶🏻

Happy little Braun camera, manual aperture and focus made this camera more of a challenge to be honest. Having to use the scale focussing technique meant that most photos from this batch came out blurry (picture with Oli as reference). Definitely a skill to hone, but this was still fun to shoot.
The tone and colouring is actually very nice. Expired film can be better than expected I guess.

I had the privilege of being a part of The Send Tour team and jumping on the second North Island leg. Dang, what a fun time. Loads of memories, new friends, good homemade food, eye opening experiences and seeing God move throughout the whole thing. What a blessing! So obviously I had a take a roll of film with me, happy to see how they turned out, lighting and framing I’m happy with. I love the classic look of Kodaks film, very natural colouring and contrast. Honestly not sure if I would do anything different, which is always a win for a photographer I think. Chur

usually I number the photos, but these were all taken at a writing retreat a bunch of us from Palmy organised over in Hawkes Bay. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from the house we stayed in and wow the energy was wild! Joined by some friends from over there, we put ourselves to work on writing worship songs. For our first time we were all blown away at the creativity and passion that was brought to the table, what an honour to make music with a group of legends. Here’s to writing more songs for the Lord.

comments: first time trying black and white film so bit of a learning curve, especially around lighting as there isn’t the same dynamic range that you have with colour. Looking forward to shooting more of it though.
