Rosie resting in the garden last summer. She had surgery few weeks before so she still had the bald patch on her stomach.

It's been nice to be away from instagram, just checking in from desktop.

I remember thinking I needed a record of this time with Rosie, peaceful and unbothered whilst recovering in the sun. As I get older the urge to record has increased massively alongside my sentimentality. I've made (what feels like) an awful lot of pictures over the past few years that I've never shared on Instagram. They'll of course end up being shared here, but not after being released with a bit more intentionality first.

Some times I feel nostalgic for a time that instagram felt like a fun way to share pictures you liked, rather than a black box to be optimized, calculating carousels and always feeling like your favorite pictures might just never even get seen. by @samdearden

These images were made over the past year, me and Sam met when I first moved to town, as it turns out we've lived/studied in the same places at the same times since 2012 and never crossed paths till now. by @samdearden

Peter.

Peter came and spoke to a couple of us whilst we were working on an assignment in central London, its not unusual for people to see a camera and show some interest, sometimes even asking for their picture when you're in a busy bit of town.

We had a fairly average chat for five minuets or so before he was off to take his food shop back home, but not before gesturing to his paper he'd bought and mentioning that he'd taught Nigel Farage Geography at Dulwich college.

This was during the stories of Farage's anti-semitism were being published. I asked him if he could remember anything about a young Farage and what he thought of him. He just said not much, and maybe he'll dig out some old text books.

He seemed pretty unbothered about the man either way, more keen to get his shopping unloaded. by @samdearden

A few more of NYC in the heat a few weeks ago.

Felt lucky to get to see New York with Zohran as Mayor, I'm not sure if it was just the weather or the fact I was on holiday but having talked to bodega guys, people on stoops, randoms at bars the city felt optimistic, or at least little bit lighter than back home. by @samdearden
