Shannon and I are on our way home from the most magical time in Washington, where we we attended the State Dinner at The White House yesterday evening. Back home with sleepy eyes and a full heart after a whirlwind three-night trip to NYC.

Saw some great friends and THREE unbelievable performances at Carnegie Hall for the Berlin Philharmonic’s residency, along with La Boheme at the Met, which I’ve always wanted to experience. by @sameerap2

In The Podium and Beyond: Demystifying the Art of Conducting, Patel will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the decisions and relationships that shape an orchestral performance.

Starting year five(!!) at @sdyouthsymphony today.

I walk to and from our rehearsals in Balboa Park and today I’m wearing a hat gifted to me last spring from two of my former students who are now doing amazing things at Harvard.

While I am excited about meeting a group of new and returning kids today I’m also a bit jittery, even after spending a few moments earlier with a beloved verse from the Upanishads which I revisit every year on this day:

May I grow in spiritual wisdom…
May students come to me from far and near, like a flowing river all the year;
May I be enabled to guide them all,
To train their senses and still their minds.

To my past students- I miss you and am always so proud of you. And to my own teachers - thank you. by @sameerap2

Looking forward to performing my Sarod Concerto Samaagam with the brilliant La Jolla Symphony & Chorus for their 2026–27 season. Confluence takes place on October 24–25, 2026 at Mandeville Auditorium. The concerto will be conducted by Sameer Patel.
