For some reason Miles turning 15 hit me harder than any other birthday. I’ve spent the last 24hrs trying to consider why , but I think I landed on the fact that I only have 3 more of these while he’s under my protection. 3 more Birthday celebrations that don’t rely on his mother and I to coordinate. 3 more Birthdays that I’m guaranteed to be able to wake up to him and make his favorite breakfast. And just 3 more before he’s officially a Man.

Yesterday was his 15th birthday and I considered every minute of that day a blessing. Through the cold, through the paintball splatter, through realizing Call of Duty actually pays off in the field of battle and even waiting in the cold for our driver after the game. Every moment was what it was supposed to be and I genuinely feel blessed to have had them.

So Happy Birthday to my first born and the young man that unconsciously taught me what it takes to be a man, father and provider than! Oh yes… I’m tagging you in the IG you’re not supposed to have 😉 milesmovesmoutains

We’ve officially been away from “Home” for a year now. I’ve seen certain relationships grow and strengthen and others fade away. I realize proximity has no relationship with the intensity of love and friendship. Because of the distance we’ve had to look at tradition a bit differently. Tradition when it comes to family dynamic, holidays, parenting, work, etc… Any and all traditions have been torn apart and rebuilt! This year we spent Thanksgiving in Whistler, BC on a ski trip. Work and Life prevented us from traveling to the states to continue our Thanksgiving tradition with our Family so we had to pivot. Might be a new tradition might not be, but we had an amazing time and we’re now Skiers hahahaha! We make the Traditions and the next generation takes the ones of value and add on. Hope my boys can take some of this with them and sprinkle Into their own families one day. taken in Whistler, Canada by @sameogreen
