Late to the party, but just now getting a chance to post this…

A record I had the honor of producing and co-writing 4 songs on—Newsong’s Church People—was just nominated for a Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year. 🕊️

That means this is officially my first Dove-nominated project as a producer and writer.

The 14-year-old version of me who wore out a Dove Awards compilation CD from the 70s and 80s would be freaking out right now—
…almost as much as the 41-year-old version of me is. 😅

I know it’s “just” a nomination.
But to be named among those who’ve shaped the legacy of God’s music for God’s people… that means something deep to me.

THANK YOU to the Newsong crew for bringing me on this project and trusting me with these songs. Huge thanks to my amazing publishers at @curbwordmusicpub for setting up the initial writes that led to this partnership.
Special shoutout to Stephen Carswell for his logistics wizardry and being a super-manager—including sending me out on Winter Jam a couple times just to get it done.
And to our co-writer and the legend himself Tony Wood—thank you for bringing your brilliance to 3 of the songs I got to be apart of…You’re a master at what you do. Always a joy to write on cool stuff together, brother.

Last but not least: thanks @doug_weier for the beautiful mix and @mikecervantes at @thefoxboro for the fire 🔥 master. True heroes the lot o’ ya. 😊🙌🏽👊🏽

Grateful. Honored. Still kinda freaking out.
More to come… 🙌🏽

@bethelmusic recorded a song I co-wrote with some friends called “Let My Life Be Worship.” I get to play it, and a few others I wrote, tomorrow night (Tuesday, June 4th) at the 4040 Writer’s Round at Franklin Christian Church. I’ll share a few original songs alongside my friends Tony Wood, Holly Halliwell, and Sean Rodriguez. It’s a free event and starts at 6:30p. Hope to see you there!

I had the honor of mixing this track and can’t wait for you all to hear it. Demaree, thank you for inviting me to be a part of this with you. You and Dolly sound so beautiful together! Everybody, check it out and let me know what you think!

Shout out to @mikecervantes at @thefoxboro for the shiny master! Great as usual, my friend. 😊👊🏽

Several years ago a mutual friend introduced me to Aaron Shust in a songwriting session. We hit it off. I’m grateful Aaron liked what we made — because not only have I had the honor of being part of his music, I’ve made a friend and some incredible memories along the way.

Swipe to see what that partnership has become. 👉

Here’s how I produce ANY song remotely…

1. Have a way for people to easily find you
2. Book a room with a view and fast wi-fi
3. Have a way to safely pack your gear
4. Pack an interface
5. Bring some headphones and/or some travel monitors
6. Pack a decent mic
7. Bring guitars 🎸
8. A way to record good EG tones
9. MIDI controller ✅
10. Keep track of your clients, sessions, and timelines
11. Have an editor assist you with tuning, pocketing, files, etc.
12. Great musicians to help remotely record instruments

It’s that easy! Comment if I’m missing anything or you have anything to add to this…I’d love to learn from you!

Happy producing, my friends!

Every once in a while I go back and read comments like these.

In an industry that measures success with awards, chart positions, and streams, moments like this remind me what really matters.

A song or album landing in someone’s life at the exact moment they needed it…and THAT music speaking to, ministering, or even rescuing them.

As writers, producers, artists, and worship leaders, we’re not just making music…
we’re shaping moments that can stay with people for years.

That’s a privilege - and I never want to take lightly.

I’m curious…

What’s a song that impacted your life at the right moment?
Or if you’re an artist/writer/leader — what’s a story you’ve heard about a song reaching someone that you want to share?

Would love to hear it. 👇
