Almost 15 years ago, I was back home visiting my parents after I had recently moved to Austin. I was 18 years old and we found ourselves sitting on the couch watching the Lion King. While watching, I was also scrolling facebook and came across a post from my mother’s friend and colleague who had rescued you from the worst potential that was quickly approaching the following day. They couldn’t take on another animal at the time, but wanted to help you find a good home and a different fate. It was then that I immediately fell in love with your beautiful smile and in that moment, my life forever changed. Everything they had said about you seemed like you’d be the perfect match for me and I for you. The next day, I met you and brought you back home to Austin and our adventure began.

Little did I know at the time that you would become my beautiful, best friend, my caretaker, my angel, my silly lil squish, my Pig Pie…and so much more. I haven’t known a life without you in Austin, or even an adult life at all. You’ve been with me through the good, the bad, and the ugly and everything in between. Nala means “gifted species or lioness” and that my dear, is exactly who you were.

On March 10, five days before our wedding, you found peace and freedom and made your final journey across the rainbow bridge. @fajitaflatsofficial promised you that he would take care of me the way you had done so generously for so many sweet years before. Nali, I truly can’t thank you enough for everything. There’s never been another like you. You are so beyond special, my sweet little love.

It’s been so hard for me to imagine writing something like this and making this heartbreak officially public because it’s one step closer to accepting the reality that things are different now. However, I know that even though that may be true, I also know that you and I will always and forever be soul mates. We will always be together babygirl.

Sam and Felipe DON’T do boring! What a treat to be a part of this celebration, from Felipe’s embroidered suit to Sam’s stunning @kennimerco wedding gown and after party look there was no lack of creativity!

We had dinner with Sam and Felipe a few weeks ago. Unsure how this came up but at one point I asked “what the hell even in a cuttlefish” and Felipe said “sounds like the type of fish Sam would be if she were a fish” and I’m still recovering. CUDDLE-FISH 🥹❤️ by @samhawkins
