From board member to staff to medical and non-medical volunteers, the goal at last weekend's Xtracare Free Medical Clinic was to dispense healthcare, compassion, and hope to our people 'one life at a time'
Here is our scorecard!
* Over 300 beneficiaries served
* 64 new beneficiaries
* 155 received medical tests
* 20 youngsters aged 12-16 underwent brain scans to assess their risk of childhood stroke.
For non-pharmacological support,
* 49 received genetic counselling
* 50 children participated in arts therapy
* 5 received psychotherapy support.
All benefits at no cost to the people

📸: We had the opportunity of speaking to the parishioners at the Archangels Catholic Church, Agbede as part of our activities in the just concluded September Sickle Cell Awareness Month.

We are open to engaging with more churches, mosques, schools, campuses and other communities in our bid to ensure that we 'have a society where sickle cell disorder is reduced'

It's September Sickle Cell Awareness Month and we turned it up today at the Arts Therapy section of our Xtracare Free Medical Clinic with Red Dots; Brave Hearts.

Red Dots, Brave Hearts speak to the amazing power that is resident in sickle cell warriors, young and old, male and female,. not minding the challenges that come with the genetic condition.

I signed up as new beneficiary, did a bit of volunteering, used that opportunity to check my genotype again and met with some of the management team at SAMI, such beautiful souls
