Sanjay Singh Chauhan’s - “The Offline Hours” is a warm, beautiful and heartwarming book that explores the beauty of human connection in an increasingly digital world. It reminds us of the importance of slowing down and enjoying the little moments in life.

The story begins with an unexpected internet blackout in Gurgaon that changes the life of four people. Book - Stay With Me
Author- Antony Pickthall

Unpredictable by design, at least in the variety of stories the collection promises. Moving between the macabre, the fantastic, and the darkly humorous, “Stay With Me” appears less interested in maintaining one consistent rhythm than in shifting gears whenever a new character or circumstance demands it.

Somewhere between quiet curiosity and a raised eyebrow. The everyday premises suggested by stories like A Simple Life and The Ditch carry hints of something more unsettling beneath the surface. There’s an intriguing tension in that movement from the familiar to the strange, especially when questions of memory, identity, and change enter the picture.

Short fiction has the advantage of leaving an impression without having to sustain a single narrative for hundreds of pages. Here, the variety of situations and tones promises a reading experience that can move from reflective to bizarre, with dark humour providing an unexpected beat between more unsettling moments.

This sounds like a collection for readers who enjoy tonal shifts and unconventional storytelling more than a steadily escalating plot. The trade-off is that a collection spanning such different moods may feel uneven to readers who prefer a consistent emotional or narrative arc.

The poolside photograph has a calm, summery pulse, but it doesn’t quite signal the darker, stranger stories inside. A more distinctive design could bring the visual identity closer to the collection’s promised atmosphere.

Best suited to readers who like their short fiction unpredictable. by @samikhya_aleman

“Never Taking No For An Answer” is an interesting and inspiring book that makes readers look at business success from a different perspective. Divided into nine chapters, it shares the experiences of some of the India’s well-known business leaders and shows how they faced challenges and built successful businesses over the years.

This book offers valuable insights into enterpreneurship, leadership, resilience and attempts to make readers understand the spirit that drives Indian entrepreneurs. It also delves into their triumphs, failures and the lessons learnt from navigating the complexities of an ever-changing world.

I didn’t expect a quiet, atmospheric mystery to keep me turning pages late into the night, but “The Backwater Remembers” by Husna did exactly that. What began as an unsolved case from two decades ago slowly unfolded into a gripping story filled with buried secrets, emotional wounds, and unexpected twists. I found myself completely invested in Krishna Iyer’s search for the truth.

What stood out most was how naturally the suspense built with every chapter. Each revelation answered one question while raising another, making it impossible to stop reading. The haunting descriptions of Kerala’s backwaters, misty hills, and old institutions created an eerie atmosphere that felt just as important as the characters themselves.

By the final page, I realized this was more than a thriller—it was a story about memory, guilt, and the cost of hidden truths. It left me thinking long after I finished, and I would gladly recommend it to anyone who enjoys immersive, character-driven mysteries. by @samikhya_aleman

Book - The Girl in Chains
Author - Devashish Sardana

Devashish Sardana’s - “The Girl in Chains” is a dark and gripping thriller that caught my attention from the very first page. With its perfect combination of murder, conspiracy, politics and drama, it constantly keeps readers guessing about who can truly be trusted.

The story starts with a shocking incident at a packed rally in Delhi, a young woman calmly raises a pistol and executes a cabinet minister and then turns the gun on herself. Initially, it seems like a murder-suicide but, soon becomes something far more complicated and bigger. As the investigation continues, more people are killed in same way, with killers taking their own lives. Slowly, secrets and connections start coming out, making the mystery more engaging.

It is a kind of book that makes you keep asking questions and trying to figure out what really happening. I really liked how the mystery slowly develops instead of giving everything at once. The character of Simone is one of the strongest aspect of the novel, she is intelligent and determined but also she is flawed which makes her character feel much more realistic.

Overall, I loved the story. It is dark, fast-paced and full of surprises. The twist and turns are major strength. The emotional parts made the story feel deeper then a normal murder mystery. The story kept me guessing and the characters made it even for interesting. The language used is simple and the cover of the book is beautiful. Highly recommended. by @samikhya_aleman
