Thank you to @skagitvalleyherald for coming to talk to us about our fundraising efforts on Friday! “…the Wechslers and Hernandez emphasized the need to inform the public that the farm must raise significant funds within a short timeframe to keep operating.

Hernandez has already filed her U.S. Department of Agriculture loan applications to purchase the farm, but she needs to raise $100,000 in about 30 days for operating expenses.”

BIG NEWS AT SAMISH BAY CHEESE! After more than three quarters of a century on this planet, and 27 years as owners of Samish Bay Cheese, we are ready to slow down a bit and move into the next chapter of our lives.

We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished nurturing Samish Bay Cheese, building it into the strong position it holds today within the local food scene, the organic and artisan cheese world, and our local community.

Fortunately, we have a wonderful team here at the dairy who care deeply about this place and the work we have built together. We are excited to share that Amber Hernandez, who has been with us for over six years, is stepping forward with the support of the team to purchase Samish Bay Cheese and continue the farm’s legacy.

Dear U District customers! It’s been a great run, doing this market for the past 25+ years, but it’s slowed down for us. With rising costs, it is just not paying for us to do this market with the volume of sales we are now getting. We are skipping this week and will be back in two weeks. Please encourage your friends to come and buy from us then. We really don’t want to call it quits there. by @samishbaycheese

Happy May Day!
This Week’s Markets + updates:

📍Ballard 9 am - 2 pm

This Saturday is opening day for Redmond and Anacortes (main season). We will be at Anacortes every other week. Redmond is weekly, except they are closed on May 9th.

FYI: We are temporarily short on milk, so we may run out of some product earlier than normal. Come early if you need something special. Due to the shortage we will revert to bi-weekly at Ballard until our milk goes back up.
