meet the artist - sam!!

I’ve been working on this drawing for over two weeks—seriously—and I was getting so sick of looking at my own face, yk? It took so long because I didn't know where tf to put everything I wanted to include. What pose? What outfit? How do I make it look like me without it looking like some made-up character? It’s so much information for a simple drawing?
And then the color palette... my old enemy, man, that took up at least 30% of the process; usually, I don't struggle that much with it, but... well, I don't know.
This is how it turned out in the end; it’s a love-hate relationship. In one of the photos, you can see another drawing—another version of the "meet the artist" piece. That initial idea with that pose took up too much space on the square canvas, so I ended up scrapping it—partly out of laziness. I like to draw ...sometimes

Today I tried Wiggly Paint and despite a few flaws, I really liked it. I drew Saiki first because I like his colors. When I realized that drawing in that app wasn't as easy as I thought, I escaped to where I know best: IbisPaint. I made this sketch to use in Wiggly, and I had a lot of fun doing it!

I changed a lot of things in this drawing, but at least I had fun. My first idea was that in a painting you find yourself and see your reflection, as I was trying to show literally. But then I had problems with the placement of the reflection, so I played it safe and then refined the concept./
