TTCPR25.9 @Iklectix: Rains Fallin’ (2004)

My son Sammy was on tour back east in the dead of winter at the age of 19, missing his family, his girl Yesenia, and his home when he wrote this song. This tour wasn’t glamorous—in fact, it was a proving ground that tested his resolve to chase after his dream: music. I decided to write down the lyrics to his song for this release, and in doing so I learned something about my son…

Waiting with expectations
Where exactly is my destination?
I’m far from home – so far from home
When home feels like salvation

And the rain keeps fallin’
Keeps fallin’ down on me
Sometimes it makes me wonder
Just where I should be
And the rain keeps fallin’ down on me

Hopes, dreams, and plans
Am I strong enough to stand
Sometimes I wish, Lord I wish
I was better than I am

And the rain keeps fallin’
Keeps fallin’ down on me
Sometimes it makes me wonder
Just where I should be
Cuz the rain keeps fallin’ down on me

Lying awake in anticipation
Praying for that divine inspiration
I’m just keepin’ the faith
In this dream that I’m chasin’

 And the rain keeps fallin’
Keeps fallin’ down on me
Sometimes it makes me wonder
Just where I should be
As the rain falls down on me

To achieve your dreams, you must sacrifice—which he did.

No matter the adversity, you keep pressing on—which he has.

On that cold wintery night, alone and far from home, Sammy proved he was strong enough to stand to reach his hopes, dreams, and plans.

From struggle to empowerment, Rains Fallin’ is out now on all streaming platforms—link in bio.

Enjoy the journey, @iklectix

Thanks @DistroKid, you rock.

TTCPR25.8 @Iklectix: Baby I’m Not Gonna Beg You (2006)

Prolific writers, the Iklectix were always in the studio creating new music. From time to time, they needed female vocalists to perform their tracks—and who better than Sammy’s own mama and sister, Lizzi and Melissa Marie?

This song is, as they say, a fun toe-tapper that will transport you back to a time when music and life felt a bit simpler. Out now on all streaming platforms—link in bio.

Have fun listening to Melissa Marie sing lead while her mama backs her up on background vocals!

Enjoy the journey, @iklectix

TTCPR25.7 @Iklectix: One Shot For Loneliness (2005)

John is an incredible storyteller through music, and there is no better example than “One Shot For Loneliness.”

He puts you right dead center in the middle of a pub, drowning your sorrows away as one weathers the storms of life.

Recorded in a way that truly captures the emotion of the song, John and Sammy masterfully bring it to life. Give it a listen—now available on all streaming platforms. Link is in the bio.

Enjoy the journey, @iklectix

Thanks @DistroKid, you rock.

Iklectix TTCPR26.6 @iklectix: Lizzi Orozco – Lullabies To Love Songs 2010

Lizzi recorded this album sixteen years ago… I pitched my beautiful wife this impossible dream: Write and record 10 brand-new songs in just 10 weeks. Blog the journey. Facebook it. Do a photo shoot. Livestream your studio sessions. YouTube it. All of it.

Lizzi’s first reaction? “You’re crazy.” Yet we captured it all—her music, stories in blogs, moments on film—but I can’t tell you exactly why we tucked it all away for so long. I guess the busyness of life is to blame—as one of her song lines puts it.

As we sipped our coffee one recent morning, we pondered that very question. We floated some ideas around and kinda settled on the idea that flows seamlessly with the narrative for her music: each track a chapter of her experiences, capturing who she is and what matters most to her—faith, family, and relationships.

Lizzi planted truths in those lyrics back in 2010 that speak straight to who we’ve grown into today. Maybe it wasn’t meant for then—it was meant for now. If anything, it’s a pretty cool thought.

For those interested in the backstory, check out her 2010 blog and YouTube channel, where she chronicled her entire musical journey. Link in the bio.
