The photograph stays the same. I keep changing. 🖤📸✨ Exploring childhood, womanhood, memory, and self-continuity. 🧵🪡🤎 Print making is the game! by @samo.space
Went to the Rubell Museum and The Margulies Collection and now I’m acting like I personally know every artist in Miami 😭✨ Art was seen. Photos were taken. Deep thoughts were pretended. Inspiration was definitely collected. #MuseumDay #RubellMuseum #MarguliesCollection #MiamiArt #ContemporaryArt by @samo.space
It’s been a minute!!!!! But I have been exploring in the quiet. My current sculpture project explores African hairstyles as forms of connection, care, labour, memory, and sisterhood. Using acrylic yarn and wool, I am interested in the structure of braiding and threading — the lines, knots, repetition, wrapping, and movement created through the hands. This work grew from a body of work titled Eve and Eve I - IV | 2025, but now I am moving the idea of connected hair beyond the canvas and into space. Hair becomes architecture. Hair becomes memory. Hair becomes a way women hold each other. I am in a space where I get to explore beyond my usual. #SamuellaGraham #AfricanHair #FiberArt #TextileArt Sculpture HairAndIdentity #Sisterhood ContemporaryArt by @samo.space
Soft moments, loud art. Behind the Curtains by @samo.space by @samo.space
Late last year I had the honor of photographing Samuella Graham [@samo.space] a phenomenal visual artist, on the occasion of her debut solo exhibition, Behind the Curtains, in Accra, Ghana. Samuella’s practice explores the layered realities of womanhood, and this body of work in particular challenges the stigma surrounding menstruation, inviting viewers to reflect on what we’ve been taught to believe and who benefits from the silence. Through this incredible body of work, Samuella offers a space to see menstruation not as shameful or hidden but as elemental - a natural cycle that carries dignity and power. by @samo.space
“Grateful beyond words to everyone who has already purchased the Behind the Curtain exhibition catalogue. This being my first one makes your support feel even more special.❤️ Thank you to @blackgirlfest and the Obaasima Creative Grant for funding the full production, and to every single person who contributed to making this catalogue a reality. If you’d love to journey deeper into the exhibition, you can still get a copy — your support helps me continue creating and documenting our stories. Behind the Curtains’ has officially been extended until December 24th. @worldfazeartpractice Grateful for every soul that has walked into this space and connected with the work. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes moment of me setting up — trusting the process, trusting the story, trusting God. If you haven’t visited yet, I’d love for you to come experience the work in person before it closes. by @samo.space
Why do you create art? “Simply because I love creating! There’s nothing more exciting than watching an idea take shape — from a thought, to a sketch, to a living story on canvas. Art gives me freedom, purpose, and joy. It’s how I express what words sometimes can’t. I create because it brings people together and starts conversations that matter — about beauty, identity, healing, and truth. Every piece I make is a way of saying, ‘Let’s talk about this. Let’s feel something.’ Creating keeps my spirit alive, and sharing it reminds me how powerful art can be in connecting us all.” — Samuella Graham, Accra, Ghana @samo.space @artistsoncouches #samospace #samuellagraham #artistsoncouches #onthecouch #CreativeConsciousness #ArtisticConsciousness#CreativeProcess #CreativeMind #ArtistLife #CreativeJourney #ArtAndConsciousness #ArtistCommunity #LivingArtists #ArtDocumentary #ArtistArchive by @samo.space
It’s been a whole month since the opening of my debut solo, "Behind the Curtains", and my heart is still full. I’m truly grateful to God, my family, and the people who have walked with me through every quiet moment and every breakthrough. This show was more than an exhibition— it was a testimony, a promise fulfilled, and a bold check off my 2025 goals. Since 2023, I’ve been preparing to share this story as a solo body of work, and God aligned the opportunity through @worldfazeartpractice in a way that felt divinely timed. Stepping away from my usual portraiture into something more abstract, more radical, and unapologetically honest pushed me in ways I didn’t expect… and I’m forever grateful for the growth it birthed. Thank you to everyone who held space for me, believed in me, and saw the heart behind each piece. This moment will stay with me for a long time. Photo credit: @xonorkor @norkor.nortey by @samo.space
Join us on tomorrow, October 25th for the opening of ‘Behind The Curtains’, an exhibition by Samuella Graham. In this exhibition, Samuella invites viewers to reflect deeply: What have we been taught to believe about menstruation? Who benefits from the silence? And what becomes possible when we choose to speak, paint, and bleed in truth? 2nd slide Title: The Weight Between Her Ribs Medium: Acrylic and P.O.P on canvas Dimension: 94cm x 94cm Year: 2025 ‘The Weight Between Her Ribs’ also reflects the effect of breast cancer in this month of awareness. 📍: Worldfaze Art Practice ⏰: 5:00pm - 9:00pm Ground Floor, Gallery building. #worldfazeartpractice #behindthecurtains #exhibition by @samo.space
For her first solo, Worldfaze presents ‘Behind The Curtains’, an exhibition by Samuella Graham @samo.space Across many societies, including Ghana, menstruation remains a subject shrouded in silence, myth, and shame. Often considered impure or taboo, menstruating women and girls may be excluded from communal life, denied access to religious spaces, cooking duties, or even social participation. In many cases, such stigma leads to isolation, misinformation, and internalized shame that lasts well beyond adolescence. This exhibition by Samuella confronts these beliefs inherited through abstraction, fragmentation, and unapologetic visibility. Opening 📆: 25th October, 2025 Time ⏰: 5:00pm - 9:00pm Location 📍: Worldfaze Art Practice Ground Floor #worldfazeartpractice #exhibition #ghana #women #gallery #art #society #Africa #womenhealth by @samo.space
