Are you a warrior? A healer? A teacher? Whatever credo you associate with, it is vital that you are the protagonist of your own narrative. Take control of your life. Or other malign forces will. In the podcast and blog I made for @recoverydevon, I explore the impact of bipolar on my life, the power of stories, and my journey back to health and control. I pull no punches, and approach the subject with my typical ebullient verbosity, and I think everyone can take something away from it. I am unbelievably proud to announce that my artwork 'May Day' has been longlisted in the @doncasterartfair stellar exhibition 'Art As A Response To Mental Health', featuring a truly incredible selection of work and very powerful stories of triumph over adversity. I am honoured to be a part of this exhibition, as it is a subject very dear to my heart, and to have my work displayed alongside such transcendent pieces is special beyond words. \ I created 'May Day' in the midst of my first bipolar episode, as my hypomania turned to depression, and it perfectly captures the potent, swirling, intoxicating and terrifying mixture of moods, emotions and thoughts I was experiencing at the time. To chart my complex feelings along this incredible and existence-shaking journey has been perhaps the number one tool for understanding and recovery, and to share it with you now is a humbling privilege. / Most exciting of all, the longlist of artworks is open to public voting! Click the link in my bio to view the full array of spectacular pieces and cast your vote! Let's see if we can get 'May Day' to Finalist status! 😁 I believe you can vote for more than one, too, and trust me you will be spoilt for choice with the genius they have on display there! \ Thank you to all of you for your support, and fight on, soldier. / You ain't seen nothin' yet. 😁✊☀️❤️👊 #art #artistsoninstagram #artoftheday #digitalart #portrait #nature #sky #sunset #doncasterartfair #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #bipolar #recovery #recoveryispossible #wellness #courage taken in Telegraph Hill, Lewisham by @samoharachilds
