Somewhere along the way, fragrance went from something I liked to something I wanted to learn about, wear more intentionally, compare, collect, and talk about way too much.

The only problem? Almost no one in my real life wanted to have those conversations.

That’s a big part of why I started Sample to Shelf, and why I’m so glad you’re here.

How long do you actually give a perfume before deciding if it’s for you?

I’ve become much more intentional about perfume sampling, especially before adding another full bottle to my fragrance collection.

A little time on skin can change everything.

A fall fragrance for people who don’t always want vanilla or amber.

Guerlain Néroli Outrenoir gives me dark, smoky tea with enough neroli and citrus to keep it lifted and easy to wear. It feels especially perfect for those in-between seasons when I want a little more depth without anything too sweet or heavy.

After months of cherishing my decant, it finally made it to the shelf. 🍂

House and Disco both evolved on my skin more than I expected.

That’s part of what makes @zernell.gillie’s fragrances so interesting: each one is inspired by music, and the full story doesn’t happen in the opening.

Okay, this is fun. Diving into my new Scentiment Journal from @sophiasmellsthings and already flipping through thinking about all the perfumes I want to go back and smell again.

I’m especially excited to have somewhere to capture how my thoughts change after actually wearing something, because we all know a first sniff does not always tell the whole story.

Such a clever idea. Now…what gets page one?
