“Paper Persona” being shown at @studiosarphaat in Amsterdam and Powerhouse Arts @mvvoart in Brooklyn.

Paper Persona is a coloured pencil drawing that has now been lost, unfortunately. All I have left is the scan and photos like these ones. Forgive me for milking them dry x

A coloured pencil drawing of the slippery Freud - with some inspiration from Nicholas of Cusa

A doubloon; everyone gets the version they desire. We read Freud while judging him, but Freud judges us all too 👁️

A coloured pencil study of a photo by Melania Brescia (@melaniabrescia), drips added by me.

What a blessing to have more time to draw again this summer 😁

My best drawings from 2024.

Yes, it was a while ago. Life got pretty busy.

The International Student Arts Incubator was my first show since moving to NY. Pleasure to meet and work with everyone involved. I learnt a lot about managing and fulfilling a show at the center of the art world.

Thank you to @gabrielawanstudios for the pictures

I’ve been thinking about traces and palimpsests with these sketches. Are all exposures doubled?

1. Ribbons
2. The Double
3. Portrait of John Baldessari

Feeling a strong nostalgia for the absolute.

Semi-related quote:
“I have a face only a mother could love, but you? Even your mother struggles!”

Some drawings to start the new year off.

1. The Jötunn
2. The Father
3. Bookbox

Amidst a new year’s cause for reflection, there are themes of heteromorphic transformation and, on a rarer note for my works, the archetypically masculine sublime’s offshoring of feminine beauty. Modernity neglects that beauty is both the sublime’s result and true goal; from Helen of Troy, to Laclos’ Mme de Merteuil and Joyce’s Molly Bloom. I will save the ramble on the search for an anthropological god-concept and beauty’s originary deferral of conflict (taken from Eric Gans) for another time.

It’s been an eventful year. Some highlights include my publications, my show at the Oculus World Trade Center, and becoming Art Director at Sky Meadow Institute.

As life became busy amidst moving to New York, I returned to graphite drawings and fell in love with making art again after a torrid few years at SCAD’s ‘White Lotus’ environment. To those who are new here, simple pencil drawings gave my career the initial momentum that lifted me out of homelessness.

I am immensely grateful to the new friends who granted me a lease of life with their positivity. I am stoked as ever heading into the next year. More to come 😁x

The face promises insight, stability, and closure—constantly in danger of the myth of the apostrophe and prosopopeia, but there may be no way beyond it but anagogical commitment to empathy.

Walter Benjamin believed that mass effects play out on the stage of the face, that one ought to read history physiognomically whilst recognising that the face is (a) text. Insofar as there is anything beyond the text, what lies beyond the face?

A close-up of “Hiding Place,” a coloured pencil drawing that was recently exhibited at 2424 Gallery. This is a portrait of my good friend and former roommate, Conrad Blaze.

Throwback to some utter cringe from yours truly, from over a year ago.

I have grown a lot since moving to New York and becoming ingratiated with a much healthier artistic and intellectual environment. As the year wraps up, I am thankful to everyone who has stuck by and supported me through all of my messiness as well as the new friends who helped spur me forward again. I am eager to show what I am about in 2026, both in my art and cognitariat work.
