Excerpts from @kookfest2026 Board Talk on March 2025 in Baler, Aurora. This event led us to the inception of an idea to promote and discuss more about the industry and the culture of boardbuilding in the Philippines. As of now, we at @samrayansurfboards_samar along with @adhksmurf of Baler are cooking up something to dive even more on the deep rabbit hole of the surfboard building in our Archipelago. We are willing to work on other surfboard brands and builders, big or small for a gathering of hands and minds to talk and promote to each other's crafts and ideals. Surfing always taught us how to live. It taught us to keep fighting, to read situations and circumstances like how we read the rip currents and swell directions. To take challenges head on. To take the risk and reward of making the leap of fate... of letting go and experience the beauty of life unfold around us, like a wave with a barrel rolling on where you stand or crouch with style inside it feeling all its beautiful entirety. But, alas! Beware of the wrath and fury of a rouge set wave that can pound us unconscious, fractured or even worse, dead, lifeless. A nasty wipeout, from a 3-set wave hold down, all the apnea and pain of the wave's pressure pounding on every inch of our existence. It is these times that we try very hard to stay calm under immense pain and pressure with close proximity to death if we try to struggle or make irrational and unnecessary actions and or panic. Shockingly resembling Life itself. Like how everything beautiful and grand can break us. Amazingly teaches us how to live, fight for what we love, through focus and self-preservation and the will to keep on going by the strength of our love for Life and for everything and everyone around and inside it. Lest we forget. May we always choose to live no matter the how hard the pounding gets or how we think we have already ran out of breath. May we stay calm under all the chaos and be reminded to breathe when it all settles. May we always remember Surfing and all the lessons it teaches us. My unreleased full carbon fiber-skinned high performance shortboard. This board is not meant to be for sale (or not yet) because I am still waiting for the right swell to arrive and I am really looking forward to know how it goes on the water. Anyway, swell charts and forecasts are showing signs of good waves coming in this week so, I might give this one a try and maybe would like to dispose of this to anyone willing to spend a few bucks for a good, durable board. Board dimensions: 5'7 1/2 x 19" x 2" 3/8 FCS 1/FCS Fusion fin box system. *Tapered rails to ensure rail to rail action and thickness is conserved on the middle wide part of the board to still have the desired bouyancy as a high-volume board. *Handshaped and glassed with unidirectional carbon fiber plus 1 layer 6 ounce fiberglass cloth. **Music is an ode to da Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne. by @samrayansurfboards
