A love letter to our clients and our loved ones: In May of 2014, somewhere on a hillside on the Isle of Skye, two daydreamers had a conversation that would change their lives forever. We talked about how fun it might be to build something together. A little business where we could photograph weddings, travel to beautiful places, meet incredible people, and create a life centered around connection and storytelling. Two years later, in May of 2016, Isle + Oak officially became Facebook Official. We had no business plan. No website. No roadmap. No idea what we were doing. Just a name, a logo we loved, and a dream. What happened next is something we never could have imagined. That tiny idea quickly became something much bigger than either of us. It gave us clarity. It gave us purpose. It showed us the kind of life we wanted to build. So we took a leap. We left our jobs, poured every ounce of energy we had into this dream, and trusted that somehow it would all work out. Somehow it has. Today, May 31, 2026, marks 10 years of Isle + Oak. Ten years of adventures. Ten years of airports, road trips, mountaintops, dance floors, happy tears, and unforgettable stories. Ten years of being invited into some of the most meaningful moments of people’s lives and having the privilege of preserving them through our art. Ten years of building something that fills us with more pride and gratitude than we could ever put into words. To every client who trusted us, every friend who encouraged us, every family member who supported us, every person who opened their home to us, celebrated our wins, lifted us up through challenges, or simply believed in us when this was nothing more than a pipe dream: Thank you. You have shaped this journey more than you’ll ever know. What started as a conversation on a hillside became a life beyond anything we could have imagined. And every step of that journey has been possible because of the people we’ve met along the way. Ten years later, we still wake up grateful that we get to do this. New Year. New Photos. Same Fake Couple ✌️ . It’s that time of year again where we pretend we’re brave and step out in front of the camera to celebrate everything that the year has in store for us, and we already know that 2026 is gonna be a good one. . If you’re new here, we are Sam + Chris, the duo behind Isle + Oak Photography and for the last decade we have had the pleasure of telling stories and documenting a whole lotta love along the way. . This next chapter of Isle + Oak is bringing us some exciting new adventures, and we are bursting with excitement over all the magic that the season is going to have in store for us. To name a few … . ✅ We are gearing up for our very first speaking gig at @arc_evolution next month - which is something we are incredibly honoured and overwhelmed to be participating in. Arc has been the single most impactful element of our story and the opportunity to return and help be that piece of inspiration for others is truly a surreal dream; . ✅ We are photographing several weddings outside of Vancouver this year. Including one in Italy where we will be documenting two of the most beautiful souls we know; . ✅ We so excited to be documenting weddings at several new venues this year and returning to a few of our all time favourites including @hycroftuwcv , @hatleycastleweddings and the @polygongallery ; . Walking into our 10th year of business as Isle + Oak is truly surreal. We mean it when we say that we never thought such a an accomplishment would ever be possible. The last decade has been filled with the most beautiful ups and downs, and we will never take for granted the profound joy we are blessed to experience day in and out. Carving out a little home for ourselves in this whirlwind of an industry is no easy feat, and to everyone who has shown us love and support along the way, please know we are forever grateful for all you have given us these past 10 years. . Earlier this week, we found out that some of our images were honoured at this year’s @westcoastweddingawards , which is always so exciting! . Eligibility to this year’s awards were opened up to photographers from across the country and the quality of images honoured is truly mind blowing. To have our work represented is the biggest honour. In addition to that, photographers from Vancouver won 5 out of the 7 categories! Get it Vancouver 💪 It’s mind-blowing and such a thrill to represent alongside so much talent here in Vancity. Big shout out to some of our dear friends who saw their images represented this year @caprikimberlyphoto , @mirandandersonphoto , @oliverrabanes , @candice.m.photography … your work is forever inspiring. Honoured to have had the following images make the cut this season … . Oh look, it’s us! Chris + Sam, your favourite little fake couple ✌️ 🖤 . . It’s been a minute (like a REALLY long minute) since we graced your feeds with our faces, but with so many new followers along for the ride it was time that we had a little check in. . We are so excited for all the magic that 2025 has to offer us. The calendar is quite literally bursting full with so many amazing wedding stories that we are just itching to sink our teeth in. This year we are ticking a few ‘firsts’ off the bucket list including our first international overseas wedding (we might actually just die of excitement) and some new venues that we have been manifesting a wedding at for many, many years. As we enter our 9th season of Isle + Oak, we can’t help but reflect and celebrate the journey we have been on here together. To everyone who has shown us support: we love you, we thank you and we hope to continue filling your feeds with all the moody love for you to enjoy. . Two Thousand and Twenty Four. . . A year of personal growth. A year where we prioritized balance and adventure. A year where we travelled and explored and documented so much beautiful love. A year of change and acceptance and achievement. . 2024 will forever be a year we will never forget. To every single human who trusted us to tell their story in some way - we owe each and every one of you a lifetime of gratitude. This career we have been chasing for almost a decade has been life altering for us, and it’s been made possible because of the love, support and trust that you all afford us. To every single one of you who chose us in 2024: we love you, we appreciate you, we see you, and we want you to know that we will forever cherish the trust you have placed in us. This season gave so much to us and we are forever in your debt. As we finish the remainder of our editing from this beautiful year we also start to look forward into 2025 where we know we will blessed with so many more adventures. 2025 is going to be an incredibly monumental year for us and we are bursting with excitement. International Wedding Photographer of The Year FINALIST … x2 😭🙏🤯 . This year we were fortunate to see 2 of our images selected as finalists in the annual @iwpotyawards contest which is totally mind blowing. To have images represented along side the mind blowing talent that makes up this collection is absolutely mental. WE are grateful to the judges for the time they spent compiling these unbelievable images. To see 2 of ours selected from the hundreds of photographers who submitted across 60 countries is such an honour. Every year we strive to challenge ourselves and grow in what we do. Our love of reception photography is something that year over year continues to evolve so to see the images selected being born from those portions of a wedding is an even bigger honour. We are grateful to Joshua + Grace and Gillian + Jeremy for trusting us to document their celebrations and allowing bus the freedom to create. Your trust means the absolute world to us. . IN OUR NEW WEBSITE ERA ✨✌️ . . After nearly a decade the time has come to breathe some new life into our website that to date has given so much back to us and this business. This has been a topic of discussion for the past many years. This site has allowed us to connect with so many amazing humans since we helped create it when Isle + Oak was born, and today, with the help of the beautifully talented Camille from @soulcoastcreative , we have a new beginning. . . Camille took our vision and brought it to life seamlessly. We wanted something simple, yet modern. We wanted a platform that would complement to our work, but also give it the space to shine without any bells or whistles. We wanted something to showcase THE MOOD. We wanted it to scream us and that’s exactly what she did. Mad love to Camille for putting up with Chris’ neurotic and lengthy emails at all hours of the day + night.
