Thinking of @ldnsoundproject as we mark our 10 year anniversary since our first rehearsal; they have a gig at the wonderful @actorschurch with our fab band and the wonderful Katina at the helm. As that is happening, I will be conducting our 100th Operation Mincemeat show with this superb company in Birmingham @thealexbham. Feeling grateful! Can’t wait to see everyone and celebrate with the LSP clan soon! by @samsommerfeld

Another Mincemeat bows run for the grid. Although this looks less of a journey than Bath - don’t be deceived! When you get to the top of the stairs there’s a raked stage to heave yourself up and onto- which our lovely DSM @isthatsophiemason is there waiting for me with her hand out in case I fall back 😂 It’s been a lovely two weeks at Sheffield Lyceum with our brilliant band and lovely company! Thanks again to @jordan_b_pearson for the video capture expertise! taken in Sheffield Lyceum Theatre by @samsommerfeld

So at the end of each Operation Mincemeat show I have 20 seconds/10 bars of bows music to get to stage for the MD/band bow, and then equal time back to the pit to play the playout music - am thinking of doing a montage of the whole tour of my runs to/from stage 😂 this one in Bath is a particular challenge as we’re playing in a room underneath the stage!!!! Shout out to @jordan_b_pearson for capturing 👏😂 I am making it *just* in time! taken in Theatre Royal Bath by @samsommerfeld

Last night marked the end of term/year with @ldnsoundproject. Due to being on the road next year, it also marks me taking a wee sabbatical as well (LSP will of course continue as usual with a wonderful Associate MD of the choir). I have been spending my Wednesday nights for the last ten+ years in north London with this lovely bunch and have learned so much about myself, other people, and making music. I’ve sharpened my arranging skills and it provides me a genuinely creative project all throughout the year; when the well is dry, LSP has always been there to give me purpose and keep me inspired. More than that, it has become such a family and community and a massive part of my life. People have been thanking me for what the choir has done for them and means to them, and it is so mutual - making music with these singers and band is such a joy and I’m filled with gratitude that I get to lead such a wonderfully dysfunctional family! Thank you so much LSP, and see you soon. Some pics - just a snapshot of the last ten years!! 🧡 by @samsommerfeld

I am thrilled to be joining the @mincemeatlive family as MD of the UK tour next year! Opening at @the_lowry in Feb and working our way around the country with this small but mighty show - so chuffed to be a small cog in this wonderful company. Please do say hello if we’re near your neck of the woods! 💛🕵️🫡 by @samsommerfeld

Today marks the end of the run of Extraordinary Women at Jermyn St written by Sarah Travis & Richard Stirling. This has been such a happy company and we have had a truly creative time making this show - with the super @paulfoste and @jgoodwindance. I am always grateful to @sarahetravis who has trusted me with her music and been such a companion (all the while juggling another show) - @jameswpattison (legend) and I have had so much fun playing it every night. Thank you to the inimitable @dickiestirling who has looked after us all so well. It has been a privilege to work with such a dreamy company in @carolinesheen @amyellenrichardson @sophielouisedann @amiramatthews @jazzflowerkerr @moniquebyoung @butterworthjack @martinjohnbristow @cloud_gareth who have made my job so easy. We have had more chuckles than any insta post can convey! Thank you also to all the lovely friends who have come and supported!
