queer bloomsbury was a blast 🌟🌈

thank you to @marlboroughproductions and @melissasometimes for helping me organise ‘The Model Speaks Back’, a culmination of my PhD research where we brought duncan grant’s drawings from the 1940s and 50s to life in the historic house at @charlestontrust

i loved the stunning backdrops created by @robinwhitmorelondon and spectacular performances by @cairo_leon @alexfincherworld and @pisscarnation

so much amazing work went into this event and i’m so proud to have played a part in it 🌺 taken in Charleston Farmhouse by @samson.docx

Meet Samson Dittrich, a recent Phd graduate, who has spent a number of years researching Duncan Grant’s erotic drawings, and exploring themes of power, racialised gaze, desire; visibility and invisibility, privacy and public domain and the context in which the drawings were created.

This year at Queer Bloomsbury, we’re delighted to announce that Charleston House will be opening its doors to our guests as part of our Queer Fayre. You’re invited to step into the home of Bloomsbury Group Sussex to discover quaint performances and interpretations of these drawings led by our fabulous line up including Symoné, Brian Lobel, Emma Frankland, Subira Joy & Charlie Wood!

There'll also be the chance to catch a selection of the erotic drawings from the 1940/50s with your own eyes…

i really enjoyed my time as event steward for We Are Warriors @inbetweentime

so many visitors i spoke to had emotional and profound experiences in the installation, and it was wonderful to offer people from all walks of life a space to come together, grieve and find strength

sitting in the dark of the tunnel, illuminated by lights left for those who have been lost or silenced, listening to the voices of 130 women, girls, transfem and nonbinary people, felt especially poignant in the same week the ehrc guidance was released. i was proud to be part of a project that understands that trans and cis women’s struggles are intertwined taken in Brighton Train Station by @samson.docx
