A great experience at Canada's biggest tournament, @openjiujitsu Not the outcome we were hoping for (2 wins, 2 losses), but Samson left it all out there on the mat and proved he can keep up with the best of them.

So proud of him and thankful for all the coaches supporting him through this journey. 🙏🏻

Another great @ossottawa tournament in the books! Fighting one weight class up in the nogi, Samson really embodied technique over size. Hardest fought match I can remember and so proud he showed up and showed out. ♥️

Thanks to all the supporters and amazing coaches at @gbbarrhaven and @gbmanotick

After a weeks' long vacation, Samson stepped into his first @nagafighter in Rochester, New York.

Had some tough opponents, made some new friends, and came out with the double gold. 🥇🥇

Special thanks @babylon_mma , @academia.bjj , @conceptjiujitsuchatham , @martialartsck , who supported Samson's training and provided him a home away from from his home @gbbarrhaven . The jits community is something special. 🙏🏻❤️

While on vacation, Samson had the privilege of training at @academia.bjj Owners Jeff and Steve were so friendly and welcoming and gave Samson some great tips and some hard rolls.

If you're in the Beamsville (Niagara/Hamilton) region, you have to check them out! The vibe is unreal and the energy is amazing. They say it feels like a friend's garage — except world champions have trained here too. 💯 🔥 🔥

As a parent-run account, we always talk about the impact our kids have on the mats. But we rarely talk about the impact they have on us.

As parents. As adults. Everyday. Just trying to survive the day-to-day chaos of raising a family. Jiu-jitsu started as a playful activity for me and Samson. But somewhere, between the mats, the sweat, and the struggles, it became something much larger.

Jiu-jitsu taught me how to be a better person. A better coach. A better father. Teaching Samson that you can't quit when things are tough; to persevere when you want to walk away; to stay calm; and to outwork your fears before your fears outwork you. At the end of the day, all the hard work will pay off. Be patient.

But the best and most beautiful part:

While I’ve been busy trying to teach Samson how to grow up, he’s been busy teaching me how to be better. This one's for you my son. 💙

It's been a minute. Adulting and life. Samson competed at @ossottawa today, taking double gold. 5 matches, 5 submissions. GB Ottawa kids showed up and showed out today. Great turnout, great matches, great tournament! by @samsonlbjj

Could we hit rewind, just for a day?

Competitions, seminars, membership fees, privates... It's exhausting, it's expensive, but I wouldn't change it for the world... 😊

What a weekend at @grapplingindustries Toronto! Won some matches, loss some matches, made some friends, and learned a lot.

Thank you @twitchedlife and @haydenmcinrue for leading the @gbbarrhaven army into battle. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Special shout out to @kalsamritgym. Victor and Jackson are some serious killers and also some of the nicest kids befriending Samson. They put on a clinic this weekend! 👊🏻💯
