As Austin continues to court high-tech industries that could require large amounts of water, an @austintexasgov task force planning the city’s future water supply is warning that economic development cannot come at the expense of conservation.

The debate gained urgency after the recent revelation that @TeslaMotor’s water use climbed from @Austin_Water’s fifth-largest customer to its third-largest in just two years, and as the City of Austin seeks to attract more companies with potentially significant water demands while working to clarify its stance on #datacenters amid a regional boom.

Austin’s water future is getting tighter, and one company is using a lot more of it. 💧

Tesla’s Gigafactory has increased its treated water use by hundreds of millions of gallons in just two years, even as drought concerns persist across Austin.

With expansion plans tied to Elon Musk, the question is getting louder: can the city keep up?

Watch the breakdown, then read the full story. Link in bio and comments.

I ran 26 miles!!
.
.
.

My mom never got the chance to run a marathon. Before she was killed, she loved to run. She would come home from a long day of work, super stressed out and some sometimes prickly. After she went out for a little jog, she’d return refreshed, warm.

I was not much of runner before she was murdered in 2009. I took it up shortly there after. Though I’m not very spiritual, running made me feel her presence or at the least close to her. Not a run or jog has gone by in the last 15 years where she hasn’t crossed my mind for at least a moment. And I as crossed the finish line Sunday, she was what I was thinking of. I can’t believe I am writing this right now. We were supposed to be in each others lives forever, or at least much longer than this.

Ever since the day I met you when we were 13, you have been one of the most important people in my life. Some friendships ebb and flow but ours was always so strong. I’m sure some people will never experience the kind of special bond we had. I am so lucky to have experienced it. I will miss you forever. I love you Michelle by @samstark
