Meet Sam 👋🏼

He’s the one who started it all. Back in 2019, Sam discovered his love for his camera while studying Global Project & Change Management (@gpcm.windesheim ). A study project led him to industrial leftovers from the hot air balloon production which his team transformed into lightweight hammocks 🤯 What began as experimenting with waste quickly turned into passion for circular ideas!

But who is Sam?

“Driven by a deep curiosity for people and materials, Sam is the kind of person who finds beauty in the overlooked and simple things. He loves being around warm, humble souls chasing their dreams. You’ll often find him documenting those very people and their stories. Whether he’s moving his body, playing boardgames with friends, journaling, or diving into deep talks about life, Sam brings the same thoughtful energy to everything he does.”

Sam’s style: Passionate, Curious & Caring 📸🌱

Meet @samuel.a.wagner at our Waste Alchemists event! 😌

It’s on the 21st of March at Vogelfrei in Utrecht. More info and sign up via the link in our bio. See you there! 👋🏼 by @samuel.a.wagner

We’re finally doing it 😍 🥳

On 21 March, we’re officially launching Waste Alchemists and we’d love to celebrate that with you, in real life at the legendary location of @vogelfreiplayground in Utrecht ♻️ (Register via link in bio)

What started as documenting makers and their stories transforming waste into awesome products on social media has grown into something bigger: a platform, a shared home, and a growing community around people who turn discarded materials into meaningful products and experiences. Why? To create awareness about waste in a playful and inspiring way while, ultimately, changing our perspective on waste.

The day has two parts:

🧑‍🎨 14:00–17:00 | Make your own bag from festival banners by @studio_fiep
For those who want to experience what it is like to be a waste alchemists and use their own hands to create their own funky and colourful bag from „waste“. Fiep is THE person to introduce you into this art with her authentic, fun, and passionate way of being. There are limited spots and there is a separate registration for 45€/person. More soon!

🎉 17:00–20:00 | Official Waste Alchemists launch event (free but registration required)
This is where we come together. From the moment you arrive, you can start exploring: Short stories about makers, an interactive exhibition of products made from waste, photography and videos, playful elements to explore materials differently, good conversations, soup/drinks at the bar and time to connect. Just discover what’s already happening and let yourself get inspired.

If you’re curious, if you work with materials, if you care about waste transformation, or if you just want to see what happens when people actually meet offline again, we would love to see you there! 🤗 Reserve your free spot via the link in the bio.

We’re super excited about it!!
Big hugs,
Daniel & Sam

The team behind Waste Alchemists ♥️

While it might have looked like nothing has been going on with Waste Alchemists… You’ll see that all the opposite is true! But only thanks to these amazing people 😌 So let’s get a bit poetic:

Just like waste can’t transform itself, this platform isn’t built alone. Waste Alchemists is shaped by many curious minds, kind hearts, and creative hands. From the quiet magic of design to the loud laughter in brainstorm calls, it’s all co-created. The core crew weaving it together today? That’s Daniel with his webdesign superpowers, Jelle with his sense for playful branding, Feya with her poetic spark with illustrations, and Sam with his stubborn love for visual stories that matter. But really, we’re just the compost, the true richness comes from the makers we spotlight and the community growing around them. 🍃

Soon more about them but for now, SAVE THE DATE! The 21st of March we organise the official launch event of the Waste Alchemists platform at @vogelfreiplayground in Utrecht! 😍 The link to read more about it and sign up you can find in our bio! Any questions? Send us a dm :)

New website online 🥳

Last week I finally published my new website for Samwhere Productions! As always, these changes take longer than I thought and that even despite my main goal of keeping a very minimalistic design 😅

Thanks for taking this great picture Alex! It is very seldom that I get to be on the other side of the camera by @samuel.a.wagner

Bringing in some colour 🎨

Shooting photo and video for change makers is something I chose because I need this extra purpose/value in my work!

So when I came across so many initiatives focusing on positive change during my study of Global Project and Change Management, I knew I wanted to contribute by supporting them with my camera skills 📸

And as this really motivates me and brings joy into my life, I felt like my very outdated IG feed could need something that represents this joy: so how about colours? 😌 by @samuel.a.wagner

When making my vision board for 2025 one of the key words became PLAYFULNESS 🎨 This is something I really feel like including more consciously to my personal as well as professional life. Something I was also craving for last September when I spontaneously grabbed my camera and visited @hortusleiden 🍃 by @samuel.a.wagner
