Just wow!
Here is the best picture I took of the Milky Way from near Seaside, FL, last Thursday morning! (6/11/2026)

I stayed up well into the morning (~2:00 am) on Thursday to capture the Milky Way in my dream scenario. On the beach, no clouds, no people, near zero light pollution, and after nearly two years of trying, I finally got my shot!

WOW!
Here are a few lightning stills from our @samuelcamp_wx of last night's thunderstorms in the Birmingham, AL area as seen from Rogersville, AL!
If you looked to your south yesterday evening in North Alabama from around sunset till 10 pm, you may have seen a few bolts streaking across the sky. These storms were ~70 miles away from us here in Lauderdale County, but were visible to some extent because they were about 40-44kft tall!

Bank Independent (@bank_independent) holds ribbon cutting for its new state-of-the-art Team Campus in Muscle Shoals, AL

Employees, local business owners, community members, and elected officials gathered Monday afternoon at the new Bank Independent Campus to celebrate its grand opening. Elected officials, including Representative Robert Aderholt, Mayor Bryan Van Devender of Sheffield, Mayor Billy Hudson of Muscle Shoals, and Colbert County Administrator Roger Creekmore, spoke at the ceremonies, along with BI CEO Macke Mauldin, MC Hallie Mauldin, and Pastor Chad Hess of Woodmont Baptist Church in Florence. Mayor Ron Tyler of Florence, along with the President of the University of North Alabama Dr Kenn Kitts, were in attendance.

The campus brings together 234 team members from five locations across Lauderdale and Colbert counties into one shared workplace designed for efficiency and future growth. Bank officials said the facility is not a customer-facing sales office and does not replace any existing sales offices.

Located on a 50-acre site at 530 Reservation Road, near the newly renamed Independent Way, the campus includes a 97,419-square-foot main building and a 12,000-square-foot warehouse. Construction began in October 2023 and was completed in November 2025.
Bank Independent CEO Macke Mauldin said the campus reflects the bank’s continued commitment to North Alabama.

“Our Team Campus stands as much more than a new building — it’s a powerful testament to our faith in North Alabama,” Mauldin said.

Penny Camp, chief administrative officer, said the campus was created to support team members and help them work more efficiently.

Bank officials said the campus can house 351 team members without reconfiguration and up to 384 with reconfiguration. The project is located on former TVA property, which bank leaders said adds historical significance to the development.
