For this one we kept the set monochrome, navy backdrop and velvet base, so the bag sits inside its own colour story. The key light was a silver beauty dish from above, giving crisp, punchy light that picks out the denim weave, the frayed edges and the leather grain. A silver umbrella at the front filled in the face of the bag just enough to hold detail, while still letting the shadow fall away underneath to give it weight and form rather than flattening it out.

This portfolio shoot with Aricia Lima was built around a single creative thread… the tension between softness and edge, structure and fluidity, light and shadow.

Sculpted shadow and clean gradients that let the garments, the skin, and the mood do the work. It’s the approach I come back to every time, because it ages well.

The brief was to build a portfolio that showed range, from the close character work of the head shot to the full-length editorial stance and that low angle detail frame pulling focus into the leather.
