Installation views 02/02 of “Samuel Henne – untitled (note to self)“, the exhibition is on view at @adadprojectspace until October 21st. @samuelhenne

“untitled (note to self)” uses fragmentary text images to explore aspects that oscillate between self-talk, confrontation, mantra, and cautionary plea. Among other things, the work addresses the construction of identity and refers to the idea of the “self as other” as well as questions of perception, reality, and ethos. The “self” in the title as the addressee remains open to interpretation within the image motifs and notes—as an inner monologue, future self, or observing counterpart.
Coming from a primarily studio-based practice, Samuel Henne’s current works, bring him back to a more personal and intuitive artistic process.
As a singular series “untitled (note to self)” stems from an overarching work complex „cosmos“ that is ongoing since 2023.

The publication „Samuel Henne –untitled (note to self)” accompanying the exhibition brings together 50 images and is published by Palm Press Publishing in a limited edition (all numbered. 80 pages, 27 x 21 cm. Information and order via email: coco@palmpress.cc

Upcoming: “Samuel Henne – untitled (note to self)” – Soft Opening & Booklaunch – Saturday, September 6th.

With “Palm Press – Launch Lounge”, the ad/ad – Project Space is pleased to initiate a format that combines “pop-up exhibitions” with the launch of publications.

“untitled (note to self)” uses fragmentary text images to explore aspects that oscillate between self-talk, confrontation, mantra, and cautionary plea. 🌖Feelings & Photography✨

Von einer primär studio-basierten Arbeitsweise kommend, bringt die aktuelle Werkserie „cosmos“ (Arbeitstitel, 2023–2025, fortlaufend) Samuel Henne zu einem persönlich-biografischen und intuitiven künstlerischen Arbeitsprozess zurück. In Stillleben, Portraits, Natur- und Stadtansichten verhandelt der Künstler die Bandbreite des Lebens, des menschlichen Erlebens und der Conditio humana.
Inszenierte Aufnahmen von rekombinierten Objekten, Fotografien und Fragmenten werden zu skulpturalen, archivalischen Memento mori und allegorischen Portraits.

So kehrt der Künstler u. a. zurück an den Ort seiner Jugend. Hier setzt der Tod des Vaters für Henne eine Auseinandersetzung mit den hinterlassenen Habseligkeiten, Zeichnungen und Notizen in Gang.

Samuel Henne, studierte an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Braunschweig und schloss als Meisterschüler von Prof. Dörte Eißfeldt ab. Neben Einzelausstellungen u.a. im Kunstverein Hannover; Münchner Stadtmuseum; Deutsches Haus der New York University, nahm er an zahlreichen institutionellen Gruppenausstellungen teil, u.a. im NRW-Forum, Düsseldorf; den Deichtorhallen, Hamburg und dem Goethe Institut Washington. Hennes Arbeiten sind mehrfach ausgezeichnet worden, u.a. mit dem einjährigen Residenzstipendium am International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York, dem Preis des Kunstverein Hannover und zuletzt dem Stipendium der Stiftung Kunstfonds (2024).

🗓 Save the Date! Feelings & Photography ist eine Gruppenausstellung im Rahmen des Photoszene Festivals in Köln vom 16. Mai bis 15. Juni 2025 im Photo Pavillon. Temporäres Haus der Fotografie (ehemals Stoff-Pavillon Moeller) und @mouches_volantes_ , @gemeindekoeln , @goldundbeton_ , @laborebertplatz in Köln.

Last week the exhibition „A.D.M.D.M.G.A.G.S.H.D.K.S.K.R.M.D.P.A.S.A.W: Stipendiat:innen der Stiftung Kunstfonds“ @stiftungkunstfonds opened at @kunststiftung_sachsenanhalt.
