A very special weekend in Glasgow!

Being part of the 2026 Film Composer’s Lab with the @rsnoofficial has been a ridiculously amazing opportunity! There’s just nothing better than hearing a full tutti orchestra play your music.

Such a joy scoring Michael Hughes’ beautiful stop-motion animation film ‘Adore’, excited to share it with the world soon!

I love LA ☀️ by @samueljhall

Here’s my score for the first project for the @rsnoofficial Film Composer’s Lab 2026.

Our task was to rescore the opening scene from Dickens’ ‘Mystery of Edwin Drood’ - set in a fictional version of Rochester, my hometown!

It was such an incredible experience recording with this ensemble, the in-house studio team and with the brilliant @jonhargreaves105 conducting. Very grateful to John Lunn and @danaikokogia for their insightful mentorship.

Enjoy! by @samueljhall

Very cool day watching our film at @rolling_film_festival at Vue in Piccadilly. Awesome to watch and hear it on a big old screen!

‘Whoever Left The Light On’ Demo is out now on Steam, Music & SFX by me.

Loved creating lots of weird audio content for this game for Microstudio, from eerie drones to teeth falling out SFX…

Go check it out!

A joyous few days back depping on one of my favourite shows @waitressuk 🥧 fun/terrifying to get the cello out of the case after a considerable hiatus! by @samueljhall

Last weekend was the @rsnoofficial Film Composer Lab showcase at @glasgowfilmtheatre 🎥

This process has been life affirming and exactly what I needed at this point on my journey into music for screen. Writing music for film is a dream, but to have it recorded by a whopping great orchestras is just the most special thing in the world.

It was also wonderful to hang out and learn from the other composers who all brought something original to their film.

Also really cool that @laurajoely got to come and see it too, even if we did have to drive 7 hours as all flights were cancelled 😂 by @samueljhall

That's a wrap on Film Composers Lab 2025:26! 🎬

This year's five participants and their mentors, @danaikokogia and John Lunn, share what makes this programme so special for early-career composers and what it means to have your score recorded by the RSNO. by @samueljhall
