SMILE!

Perfectly stretched in-studio on a wooden frame with supporting cross.

The black and white silver-teeth are handpainted.

I felt like going for a look that combines chaotic, seemingly random, and almost dirty-looking smudgy strokes with a very polished and sharp element of precision work (the mouth).

I wanted the hard, grimey motif to sit on a surface, that looks almost soft. That is why I painted it on ungrounded canvas, which has a soft-looking surface, that almost looks like the fabric on some clothes.

Also, the color of it is an amazing creamy, warm white which is such a contrast to the aggressive, saturated and fat strokes of color.
The pinks against the pastel blues/purples combined with the blacks and silver creates such a stimulating visual impression.

I dare any painter to try and paint photographic elements on this material 🤭

Big artwork from 2025 waiting patiently for a new home that appreciates new contemporary / dark figurative art that combines expressive, asbtract and photorealistic elements.

“Twilight” signifies the place between unbecoming and becoming - when what was is dying and must perish in order for something new to arise from the darkness. This is the moment right after letting go of something old and right before breakthrough, before discovery of something new.

My process is highly intuitive. The intersection between spontaneity, the accidental and the controlled intriuges me. Resonance is the guiding principle and I always feel like I have discovered something new about myself and the human experience with each finished painting. The photographic elements that you find in my work are based on my own facial features, and when I incorporate these parts I feel myself attempting to embody the painting, almost.

I am a selftaught artist working mainly in acrylics. I like to paint intuitively and consider my practise an act of exploration of the self. I like to investigate the potential that lies in darkness and in the human shadow. I draw from personal experiences, influences from music when I grew up, and sometimes I consider my paintings emotional selfportraits that attempt to convey what words alone can not. The teeth are my own and I am actually kind of shy about my teeth. The photographic element that I often include also drawd reference to my years in amateur photography. by @samuellkarim

This was one of the pieces I worked on during this year’s @prisoninkdk at @faengslet.

I paint my own teeth whenever I paint teeth but this tome I painted them in silver, which was the first time.
I love combining the expressive, chaotic abstractions with concrete photographic elements, as you may have noticed.
The work is already delivered to a happy collector👻
