Melting Giants 🧊

Where, until recently, an impressive cave system was carved into the Rhône Glacier every spring, there isn’t even glacier left today. There are few places where climate change is as striking and obvious as it is with these rapidly melting glaciers. Yet, despite everything, they remain a fascinating place for me 🏔️❄️

That feeling when the larches turn gold, the lakes go still enough to double the Matterhorn, and a little hidden gorge winds through the golden forest. This is the season Mama waits all year for – and it doesn’t stick around forever (that gorge trail closes end-October!).

Racing thunderstorms and hiking in the dark ⚡️🌙 Such a spontaneous and wild trip to the Alpstein region with @elfintanned
We took one of the last gondolas up the mountain and hiked another hour, reaching the top just in time for a thunderstorm to roll right over us 🙈🌩️ We quickly sought cover in a nearby mountain hut. After half an hour of waiting—and a delicious dinner 🍝—the sun came back for a few magical moments, giving us a beautiful view over the mountain ridge ☀️⛰️
After soaking in the last minutes of daylight, it was time for our 2.5-hour hike down the muddy trails. Thanks to our @decathlon_ch equipment, the only real challenge was finding the right path down in complete darkness! 🌙🔦😂

Still absolutely overwhelmed thinking back to the solar eclipse earlier this week! 🌑✨

But honestly, the coolest part of the evening wasn’t just the sky—it was completely spontaneously ending up on a mountain with three random people I’d never met before, just having an amazing time out in nature 😂 It’s always so impressive how a shared passion can bring people together. Huge thanks to you guys for this amazing evening! 🙌⛰️

PS: considering how terribly unprepared we all were heading up there, the shots actually turned out pretty nice. 🌙 And thankfully, all our camera sensors survived! 😂
